I weighed my front wheel on a bathroom scale, but it is fairly accurate.

That seems pretty damned heavy for a supposedly light wheel.

I had TE37's (17*8.5 w/ 245/40/17's) and i think that combo was around 38-39lbs.

4-5 lbs per corner of unsprung weight is a fair amount.

Anyone else weigh theirs?

i know hoosier prides themselves on the lightweight race tires, but i think in general most tires weigh about the same.?

How much do the Evo VII wheels weigh?

The Evo VII wheels are about 2 pounds heavier than the VIII's. I think the VIII's are around 17lbs. Tires always weigh more than you think they would.

for light and relatiely cheap high performance street tires check out Toyo Proxes T1-S.

255/40/17 = 23.1lb

235/40/17=21.4lbs

I am with you on the Toyo T1S!! I had a set of 225/45/17's which weighed 21.5lbs each mounted on a set of anthracite SSR comps which weighed in at 12.75 lbs each.Total weight of 35lbs is a 10 lb savings at each corner. This is a huge weight savings that when applied to an AWD supercar will result in a lot faster spin-up and acceleration as well as more agility in handling.

I know what I will be using for winter wheels next fall!

BTW the Toyo FZ4's have gotten mixed reviews but the T1S tires worked very well, were comparable to Michelin Pilot sports in wet and dry handling, but tread durability was much better.

With a tread wear of 280 you can keep them.....the yokohama's have a tread wear of 160....need something closer to that....I think sumitomos have a low tread wear #

#1 the higher the nubmer the longer they will last
#2 you cannot compare tread wear #s from different manufacturers.

the tread wear number is only useful when comparing within the same manufacturer. comparing numbers from two different manufacturer is literally comparing apples to oranges.
