How to connect Ipod?

I am new to this forum and this is my first car. I am wondering how to connect or sync my ipod (5th Gen) to my car (2008 GTS w/Sun & Sound). I know it has an auxiliary audio input jack but what do I do with the jack? Do I need a cable to connect my ipod with my stereo or do I need something else?

Any information is welcomed

You can either connect it with an audio cable to the AUX inputs or pick up a FM adapter for ipods and have your tuner pick up its signal.

the best for your situation is to get the "Y-cable" a radio shack. It has the red and white connectors (separately) on one end and a headphone connector on the other.

Csiplon, do you know which Y-cables they are? I'm looking at the radioshack website and don't know which one to buy. Can you please tell me which one they are?

Thanks

You can use the RCA hookups or Buy the special mitsu cable. RCA are under the aux flap and the mitsu cable hook up is in the top of the cubby were the RCA's are. The cables like 50$ from the dealer.

How do you select the iPod then? Or does it just take over when you plug it in?

Do you have the multicommunications system? (everything is controlled through the navi screen)

Buy a mini to RCA cable, they can be found anywhere that sells audio equipment. I got mine from Walmart.

The RCA plugs are under the A/C control knobs in the recessed area. There is a flap that has "AUX" written on it. I think this is only on cars that have the Sound package, though not 100% sure about that.

Once it is plugged in hold the CD button down on the radio and it will change the display to "Aux". That is all.

I use the fm adapter for the iPod with no problems and it charges my iPod at the same time.

PAC or some other company will come out with a powered doc and module add on at some point that partially integrates with existing remote wheel controls and the aux input on the HU/Nav system. I can't tell from some of the threads on the NAV system (looking to add in a rear camera) but there may even be wiring and functionality in place for it as standard equipment in later models.

If you just want the cable it costs about 9 bucks at radioshack (stereo mini to dual male RCA), but you do need the aux input connections available at least with the media/nav system (center stack, lower storage compartment, back wall of compartment) to hook up that way. If you don't have that then you have to go with FM transmitters, about 20 - 30 bucks for a decent one.
