"empty" gas milage

Moderator edit (because people don't read the posts below...)

When the red "Refuel" warning comes on and goes away quickly, then the gas sign blinks slowly, you have 3 gallons.

When the yellow "Refuel" warning comes on until you turn it off, gas sign blinks fast, you have 2 gallons.

You're welcome. -Blacksheepdj

-----------------------------------------

This might be a silly (but interesting) question, but I'm just wondering if anybody knows when the low-gas warning sign goes red, how much more miles/km can a 08 GTS lancer go without the car dead?

I used to drive family van Toyota Sienna before and i know I can drive a good ~40Km before the car is in serious thirst for gas

anyway, this quetsions might be silly but it probably will save lifes.

look up the vehicles specs, find out how big the gas tank is.
then next time you're light comes on. Go fill up.

then minus how many gallons you filled up from the max amount of the tank, and then you will know how many gallons you have left.

Call me the idiot that tests this...

After running down to nearly empty on just about every tank of my car's 2500 mile life, I can say this:

Red "Refuel" warning comes on, goes away quickly, gas sign blinks slowly - you have 3 gallons.
Yellow "Refuel" warning comes on until you turn it off, gas sign blinks fast - you have 2 gallons.

My car usually gets around 25mpg, so using what I just posted, that gives you a rough idea. Obviously, freeway and stop-n-go situations are going to give you different MPG. But there you go.

No problem. I'm just glad I never ran out when "testing"...

And it's good to know since I'll soon be taking the car on a trip that's 800 miles each way. Now I can plan for gas stops.

You guys should use Crypto's suggestion, it will probably give you the most accurate idea of how many more miles you can drive.

Or, since I already did that, you could go by the numbers I posted.
