Remove and paint. That's my vote.

But if will warranty it, then enjoy the new one!

1) What car cleaner?

2) Make sure to dell the maintenance dept manager that you are doing two things in light of them refusing standard and expected warranty service on a new car;

A) you are contacting mitsu corporate with all the details and filing a formal complaint with them and the BBB, and
B) you are contacting the cleaning/protective product manufacturer and their legal department to let them know about Mitsubishi's official claim made by a service department manager that their cleaning product damages the interior of cars and voids the warranty.

Do those two things and I bet you end up with an instant fix, an appology, and free oil changes or detailing for the next few years.

yea, unfortunately some dealerships want to give the run around first. I had a issue with my paint on the first GTS I had....when it was said and done, the discounted a swap that was loaded, the first was a base GTS. you just got to put your foot down and know how to talk. just to make a note, I don't know about you guys, but my dealership gives free oil changes for as long as I own the car, up to 4 changes a year, that came with the purchase of the car.

lol yea ill remember that when the customer service calls me back to do the survey. im mad about it, the car is beautiful except for the fake cf. remember i paid $2500 for a wear and tear warranty too. so im steaming mad, about to stop paying and let them repo it. i have 8 other veichles and my own house already paid for so it would have little effect on me.

Seriously, do this. Whether or not you care if the Lancer gets repoed, you shouldn't let the Service dept. boss you around.

You gotta fight for your right . . . to party. Or something like that.

Even so. It just pisses me off when they act like jerks to the people that they're paid to help.

The govt. pays me to answer questions. I don't tell every phonecall to leave me alone because it's not my problem. I do my job. staff need to do theirs.

OK, I'm done ranting...

Umm personally if you gon be such a pushover about this why start the thread?

You are getting sound advice as to how to get the item you are displeased about taken care of and your response is "i'll just let them repo it" or "i'll just paint it myself"

Whether or not you have the money its the principal of making that mitsu dealer honor the warranty their product comes with and their failure to comply with the companies promise to you to provide coverage on your car.

And this is why they win. Sorry, but you are being walked all over and letting it happen. If you actually care and don't want 'them' to win, which they will try and do all the time in some way, put your fracken foot down and be a responsible consumer. Call them on their BS. Simply put, that is under warranty and common car cleaning and detailing products will not harm plastic (which is all that piece is) unless the piece is flawed. Call the BBB, call Mitsu's complaint/customer line off their website and file a formal complaint with the details (dealer name, your VIN, service manager's name, and ask to fax over the workslip or order with that idiot's explanation). Look on the bottle for a 800 cutomer number or use Google to get a contact with the maker of your cleaning product - let them know that Mitsubishi is telling it's customers that use of their product voids the warranty on the car and offer to provide your complaint information and fax over their documentation from the work order making this claim and declining your warranty service.

You did bother to get it in writing, right? If you didn't, go back and get that (sorry, but it's dumb of you not to have, if you didn't... always get EVERYTHING in writing when it's such a serious matter. And yes, Mitsu voiding warranty support so stupidly and trying to get you to go out of pocket is indeed serious).

All told you will have less than an hour into this and not only will your car get fixed, but they will kiss your butt for being called on the mat like this and likely offer you free service and stuff as compensation.

Not only are you buttfracken other mitsu customers at this dealership by letting them walk all over you, you are doing the same to yourself. The dealer will step it up next time you come into service and void out something bigger and more important for some wrong reason, and they are likely to try this more and more on other customers since you let it happen.
