I got some free Hoosiers!
I've come across a set of Hoosier R6 tires free for me, so I'll see what I can learn about them. (I searched a lot on this, but no dice
, I would expect it would be easy to find)
How bad are they to drive on the street? I have 2 sets of wheels and 3 sets of tires now, so I can throw on all seasons in a jiffy. Plus, the car isn't my DD anyway. Will cops notice/care?
How long will they last, on the track and on the street?

No they're not Hugh's, I'm getting them from another friend. I guess the only thing I have to worry about is the fact that these tires pick up everything but girls (dammit!). Like I said, this car is NOT my DD, and even if my DD dies and I have to use the evo, I have another DD, and if that dies, I have another set of wheels/tires! Rain is no issue at all.
I won't use them much, just once I get suspension, I'll put them on, and have a little bit of fun being the best handling car on the street for a day!

Why would someone give you $1200 tires, or are they already used up? These are strictly road racing tires that are very soft and take a while to heat up. They are not to be used on the street, and they are very valuable. Save them, do some HPDEs in your Evo, then when you're comfortable, put on the Hoosiers and get REALLY fast. Or, sell them to another road racer who would put them to use...

They are a waste on the street and you will wear through them in short order. Unless you live REALLY close to a track and are going there for an HPDE, you shouldn't even think about using them on the street (and even then, you should still probably tow it).
