255/40/17 On stock Enkei's

Hi guys,

I was looking at Toyo RA-1 255/40/17 for my stock enkeis. I road race, so these will be my track tires only (shaved). I was wondering if whoever is running them at the track has any issues on turns and stuff. The reason why I ask - my fenders aren't rolled. I'm going to Mid-Ohio and they will be installed then. My set up was done by Robispec

Thanks.

P.S Unfortunately 245/40/17 is not available, 255's seems ultimate set up, just wanted to make sure

my friend runs 255 ra1s on Stock Enkeis for AutoX and he has no problems at all. But he is on stock suspension. Even if you are lowered, you shouldn't have any problems running 255s.

Awesome, your friend drives with two sets of tires at once? sounds like incredible grip.

255 is a bit wide for an 8" wheels but it will still work ok.

Many, many of us do 255s on the stock sized rims. There should be no rubbing issues...

yes, very common. With stiff sidewalled tires like most track/high performance summer tires, it works out fine

Thanks guys. Already ordered toyos. "Phil's tire" will bring them to Mid-Ohio and put them on at the track.

Paid $832 shaved to 5/32

Yes 255/440/17 RT615 is probably the all-time #1 most common replacement for the stock Advans, and with good reason. for the record, these did rub with the stupid Tein S-Techs, but then again, I actually drive the thing. and no, it wasn't noticeable except that I SAW the plastic rubbed on the inner front well plastic, so it's pretty negligible.

for the record, if you slam the $h!t out of the car on those tires with certain alignment, you can probably run into problems somehow, but most people do fine.
