Switched to AP stage 2... Mellon tune with no mods still faster..

I finally got my exhaust on tonight. The exhaust has a good tone to me, it's not to loud, but you know it's there. Overall decent fitment and good quality... on to the rest...

I was pretty excited about getting the stage 2 map flashed and really putting some power down. As I said, I have mods on the car, an UR UICP a green performance panel filter, a Turbo XS TBE and pill removed (as instructed by Cobb). Now don't get me wrong, the car felt pretty nice, but almost a bit more laggy to start off with, obviously it didn't pull to redline like the mellon tune did, while the throttle is a bit more snappy because of less restriction, the overall feel of the car is not what I expected.

Mellon is the way to go people. His custom tune made the car feel like it would come right out from under you from mid throttle all the way to 8 grand. I will be getting back with him as soon as I have enough money to get a WB and whatever else I may need. I expect SERIOUS gains after the next tune with him and I know I won't be disappointed.

That's actually what I would expect. A custom tune will always pull everything it can out of your car versus a conservative off the shelf map, mods or not. The Cobb maps are good maps to start with, but there's a lot to gain on them with some more tuning.

yeah, Mellon was the first custom tune I ever had gotten in any car and it was just an amazing difference. I think that once I get retuned I will be right where I want to with the car and won't be getting any other mods for it. I want it to be snappy and fast when I need or want it, but I don't want to spend a bunch of money and not getting much out of it when I sell the car later on down the road.

On a side note... has anyone done any 1/4 runs on the stage 2 cobb map? Results?

Over time, everyone will understand that custom tune is the way to go. Your car is a one of a kind, even though it has the same parts as someone else. And the "Stage X" maps are made so every car can swallow then without blowing up. And they have to consider different fuel, different companies for mods etc. while fine tuning your car for your mods will be BETTER and safer. Custom tunes ftw.

Custom tune

CUSTOM TUNE ON COBB WOULD BE EQUALLY IMPRESSIVE AS A MELLON TUNE I HAVE HAD BOTH I WAS TUNED AT A COBB PRO TUNER AND GAINED SIGNIFICANTLY OVER THE STOCK AP MAPS MELLON AND COBB ARE GOOD I PREFER THE EXTRA USES I GET OUT OF THE AP

well... you may not have read my sig, but it says first AP tuned BY MELLON... so Mellon did do it... I suppose you could say he is an AP pro tuner although he may not advertise as so. Not saying your tune was bad, but just throwing that out there.

The problem is right now I have NO money and I will now need a wideband that will work with the AP so I can get Mellon to retune it.
