just curious, how much power can sst safely handle?

my old car has 270 whp/tq, was wondering what evo mr could handle with that transmission. not looking at ridiculous mods, but read 302 lb-ft with access port,

Getrag told us 360 hp, I believe that was wheel............

I have access to a slick cooling solution that has survived LONG (sebring) races and never went above 210 degrees (trans temp)

Correction, Getrag said 375 lb-ft of torque input, which means at the crank.

Ok... so, since most Evo X's are baselining around 250-275 WTQ, this should mean that there's quite a bit of room for improvement? In addition, as mentioned by others in the forum, Engineers generally tend to be a conservative bunch, so the 375 crank torque likely has some leeway built-in as well? Thoughts??

there isn't much leeway with the stock numbers to the max wheel output. 375 trq at the crank is equal to ~ 300 at the wheels. using the base equasion for power loss through the trans. about 19-21%. i am currently at 330 whp and 320 trq at the wheels. and have significant slippage problems in lower gears. My advice is to do a little more research on here, as this toppic has had allot of action on this forum. as for the over heating issue. i personally have had no problems at the track. but it has been expressed many times by many different people. as stated above there are quite a few different/easy ways to improve upon the cooling of the tranny aswell. good luck with everything, but be careful.
