Questioned for Tuned SST Evo's
Hello Guys,
I've been searching around trying to determine if the SST behavior is ok. Basically, when driving manual-sport, upon partial throttle boost, the car seems to pull back a little between shifts.....it's hard to explain but if you drive the car about 1/2 press on gas, and shifting around 4-5k, it will do a quick second pull back sensation. This issue doesnt happen on WOT though. Any ideas? Thank you in advance |

When you get on your gas paddel about 50% throttle, the boost starts to spool, and as soon as you shift about 4-5k on the revs the next gear will pull back for some reason or lose power? Basically, doesnt feel like as if you go full throttle and shifting. On WOT, the car just goes and no jerking feeling upon each shifts and boost is always there. |
Sounds like the tune pulled timing to manage the shifts. If you hit the rev limiter it's the same feeling. I would take it back to the tuner and ask him to fix it. Don't know what torque levels you are at, mine is 372 ft/lb on 93 and 417 on E85 and it drives like a dream partial throttle, full and in between.

Thats weird because he never even touched the sst tables.
At first, car was running great. Put chevron, and car started acting funny but not on wide open which is weird. Does gas have to do with it? |

I will get in touch with my tuner and have him take a look and also take him for a ride to see what's going on.
In the meantime, will this effect durability of the sst tranny? oh and thank you for the help |

SST vehicles can retard timing mid-shift, to manage torque. Lots of timing retard has that noticeable 2-step feel. Very little timing retard and the engine "fights" the trans with very little torque reduction. You kind of want something in between.
I remember being told there is another map that dictates how much timing to retard, but I haven't seen it working with my own eyes... so can't comment for sure. For me, editing the Lower Boundary Timing Map is the simplest method to use to tweak the mid-shift feel. Rich |

Rich I did speak to my tuner regarding this and did a little research on the forums and say how mine is set to -10. Others have it at either -3 or -4. I also read that adjusting parameters will smooth it out but then again it got me thinking....is it because the tranny is slipping the clutch with the adjustment that's why it's smoother? :crap: |
