kyoo, for reference I ended up using 7 feet total of the 12 foot brake ducting. There's enough I can still disconnect the bumper and put it on the ground while on jackstands so I can access the inlet clamps so I'm happy.

Yeah, the oil cooler got relocated when I removed the AC last year. It's hung on those silver brackets in the left side of the grill.

i feel like with my setup, i should not "need" to do brake ducting. i'm ~300whp, doing hpdes, with appropriate pads, evo x brakes & rotors (larger), titanium shims (that don't bend anymore), vented pistons, high temp seals. i'll be primarily racing on a course that is not known for "testing brakes" -- this will be my first time on track on this new setup, and i'm confident that without ducting, my brakes will be fine, and ducting should be for the 350whp, 400whp guys, more dedicated track cars, etc. vs my stock boost evo.

again, i realize that ducting will always be better than not, but is every evo out there that is doing weekend track days running ducting?
Brake ducting, and higher temperature brake pads, can be helpful on track days, HPDE, etc, but it depends on how hard and for how LONG you are going to have the brakes under active use. If you are running 20 minute sessions, with 20 minutes cool down in between, on a 60 degree day with the hard braking corners taking you from 90 mph to 40 mph - you might not need any brake cooling. If you are staying on track for an hour at a time, on a hot day, with threshold braking from 130 mph to 50 mph on quite a few corners, it might be a different story.

Track driving requires different pads than autocross, where you aren't running more than two minutes at a time with plenty of down time in between. The brakes never get much hotter than hard street driving.

easier said than done, especially when you are "in the zone" and shaving time each lap.

Just being real. LOL

I thought it already had brake ducts or flaps underneath.

Agreed. Rather not worry about boiling the fluid or getting pad transfer due to overheat when you're about to crack your FTD.

Additionally, I think that you'll find your brake pads will last longer with ducts, even if you don't necessarily need them.
