Autox newbie

I am gonna run my first autox at the Bmw plant in Greenville,Sc and i have a couple of questions

how strict are they on the car inspections?

I have 330hp on street tires minus nitrous what kinda class will i be in?

It says i have to have 3 years experince to run in the event how strict are they on this?

How much of my interior do i have to have?

Can i spray my intercooler before each run?

Whoa, hold on. First off, we don't even know what you're talking about, so we can't possibly answer any of those questions. You keep referring to "they," but you haven't said who "they" are or what type of event this is. I've never heard of an autox requiring 3 years of experience, so you'll really need to clarify that. If a racing event requires 3 years of experience, and you have no experience (plus asking these questions), then I don't know why you'd even bother trying to go.

1) Car inspection depends on the sanctioning body (SCCA, BMWCCA, NASA, PCA?) and the region itself

2) WHP has very little to do with classing - it's the exact mods you have that determine the class (usually). Do not have any nitrous anywhere near the site.

3) If they say you need 3 years and you have no experience, then what are you thinking?

4) How could we know? It depends on the rules, which you haven't read, and the class you're in.

5) Why bother? It's autox - spray your tires if they're hot, but no need to spray the IC.

If your sig is correct and those are all the mods you have you are in Street Modified if it is SCCA.

Just edit your threads - don't keep replying with new posts whenever you think of one thing to say.

Since it's SCCA, then:

1) Not necessarily strict, but they will check to make sure it's safe.

2) Street Modified (SM)

3) Yeah, no experience required. The cost is pretty good, too. Your non-member cost is the same as our member cost here in the RM region. It's also cool that if you sign up for a membership at the event, they waive your entry fee - very cool.

4) Keep your interior in tact. You can take out the back seat, but you can't strip the rear. The front has to remain stock. There are more specific things here, but you aren't prepped for SM, so it doesn't really matter. This is a chance for you to start learning, not to worry about winning.

NASA does have some autox, but it's mainly focused around track events (HPDE). SCCA is the big dog for auto-x. You can have fun and learn at either.
