Hello, I'm performing a survey to collect information for statistical use in an autocrossing guide being produced for potential use by my college's sports car club (CSCC located in Clemson, South Carolina). My project's group is trying to gain as much insight as possible from all over the car spectrum (ranging from Porsches to Corvettes to Miatas) so if you see this survey posted on another forum, please do not answer it as we can only collect a limited number of responses.

For the money invested, you did not specify a time period. While most 'serious' autocrossers don't spend more than a few thousand per season, almost all of us will blow that $15k number throughout our lifetime of racing.

My interpretation of that question, even after reading your post, is that they wanted to know what you are willing to spend on an autox car. If you are like me and you bought an evo 9 then you are in the $15K + cat. already.
If you run a $5K STS miata well then you choose accordingly.

 

Exactly. It wouldn't take many seasons of running nationally to hit fifteen grand.
