Its not hard to scare an instructor. Just go off twice on the same day!

First time at NHMS and I was pleased with my timed laps for street tires.

skidmarq, have you been on the track a few times in each car and notice any differences between the X and VIII? If so, what kind of differences do you notice? I have a X SE that I've had at the track 5 times, but I don't want to beat it up any more and was considering getting a VIII or IX.

I've been out multiple times in each car and the differences will be very stark considering the 2003 VIII has no driver assists such as ACD, LSD, AYC, etc. When I drove the X, I always felt the car was in control and it was truly a technological marvel. For how heavy the car was, I was still amazed at how nimble it felt through corners.

The VIII feels more just like me and the road; very spartan in comparison. The first time I drove an VIII, it just felt "right" for lack of a better explanation...

In most apples-to-apples tests, the X will be quicker around the track than a similarly equipped CT9A. In fact, if you read up on threads around the time Ryan Gates started lapping his X (I'm thinking Mid Ohio), many couldn't understand how it was actually seconds faster than comparable CT9A times recorded in identical NASA classes. Of course, driver had something to do with that but the X also had some to do with it.

My advice would be to keep the X unless you have a really good reason to get a CT9A Evo. Personally, it was always my goal....

Its been a while since I posted, the car has undergone a ton of mods. Some good, some great!

The biggest improvement was to the handling via KW Clubsports and Whiteline sway bars and roll center adjustment.
The 57D wheels coupled with 265/35 RS3s made a huge difference for sure.
Finally, to stop this beast- after struggling with setups all through 2010- I installed DBA 5000s with PFC 01s and drove this daily and through all my track days.
GULF Competition 1000 bf (same as Castrol SRF) along with Goodridge hoses made my summer bleed free!

I spend too much time as an organiser so I get very few photo ops!
