Intercontinental Rally Challenge

I notice we don't have much of a thread for this and as the Evos are still run in this as opposed to full WRC I figured may as well put some videos up for all those who love Rally at the higher levels of the sport. May not be full WRC but these guys can certainly drive.

Personally I like the wider variety of cars used.

You are the man Logan. IRC is way better then WRC.
More cars more manufacturers and more exiting.
The IRC is what really rally means . WRC is way off today from the roots of the rally.
Thanks for the videos.

IRC AND P-WRC are the new "Rally". WRC is dead with only Citroen and Ford running against each other.

I prefere P-WRC because they are much more closer to the WRC but with production cars.
IRC mix to much S2000, GR.N, GR.A ect... class and they are less covered than P-WRC in my country.

good point.
But still the rally have to be, a big variety of cars running on public or off road.
That is really what rally means. You see cars running against each other and you can cheer for the "local guy" a same time.
The WRC is so far away from that its not even funny.
This is the biggest reason why the IRC appealing for me a lot so for others.

It goes back to the closer to production ideal that homologation brought with it back in the day with the WRC. The full WRC cars are now much further than the old Group A cars were. The Evo came from those years as did many other great cars. You should be able to buy something close to what is being driven out on the stages. that was what attracted me to rally to begin with, car that could be bought in a showroom and with minor mods be raced ***** out. PWRC is still good, and the guys driving WRC are amazing but the Ford/ Citroen duel is getting old. I want to see something akin to something I could attain should I start to build a car, not something with space program level budgets just into the car building. I'll watch F1 for that and keep my rally closer to the regular people.

IRC made S2000 cars and they agreed that from 010 will go together with WRC (but not to many S2000 teams are rushing) and from 011 they will be replacement of WRC and there is still in the game change of engine (now is NA 2000cc and they want to have turbo 1600cc)
The key point is to keep price of such cars low and allow them to participate on national level. FIA killed WRC when they prohibited WRC on national level so no spares can be sold to found latest cars in world

Some videos from latest round Barum Rally 2009 from Zlin (largest event this year in IRC this year in number of S2000 cars)

Amen brotha!

That was the reason why I originally watched rally, as these were cars you could actually go and buy street legal versions of. I remember growing up in Germany and seeing the special edition Quattro coupes on the Autobahn ... f'ing amazing. That's the whole reason why I bought an Evo to begin with (it's rally creds).

WRC has been ruined by FIA (like many things the FIA has been involved in).
