Evo X Competitive in STU?
Hello all. Is the Evo X competitive in STU? I am thinking of getting an Evo X and it will be used as a daily / STU car. Or should I look into an Evo 8/9 instead?

Are you planning on competing with it at Nationals??
Or just regionally at your local club/area??
I don't believe the X has been nationally competitive, yet, in STU. If you are just auto-xing for fun regionally, it should be a competitive platform granted you aren't a horrible driver!

Nice driving.
My only tip would be: shift to 3rd. A lot of that run would have been faster in 3rd, with less drama. In the higher gear, throttle changes upset the car less... and, you're going faster!

Brian Hanchey from AST-USA and Vorshlag Motorsports campaigned a X MR a couple years ago and deemed it too heavy for STU. Granted you'd save a hundred pounds with a GSR but even currently I weighed 3404 at autox weight. With some lighter seats and other little tid bits, I might be able to get it down to 3300 but that's still heavy compared to VIII and IX's who compete at 2900 to 3100lbs in STU.
To me, the X would be better fitted in BSP and SM, where it can take advantage of the wide wheels and tires and extra power you can put on it.

I plan on running a few Tours/ProSolo/Div and take the ride to Lincoln next year. My driving definitely needs a lot of work. But running at big events with great drivers will only make me better.

It's in East Rutherford, New Jersey at MetLife Stadium, where the Giants and Jets play.
NNJR SCCA and several other clubs run on either of two newly paved lots- one is 1M ft², the other is 750K ft².
We are very appreciative of the owners letting us run here as the grip is just about as high as Lincoln, and with zero OPR issues.
