What if someone comes on with say a car with 800WHP and a high speed track? I know what you are saying and I have seen the same thing but if it's a track like Road Atlanta with that HUGH front and back straight it's hard to keep up with a low power car.

I gotta disagree with that one...

Ive spanked many Porsches and Ferraris in a lowly VW Corrado - and Ive also had cars/drivers show me their taillights in lesser machinery. Its all about the driver.

BTW Ive been to an event at Sears Point where I was riding shotgun in a well driven, well prepared 3rd Gen RX7 and we were getting schooled by a less powerful - very well driven S2K (white with bronze wheels). Very cool following him into turn 1-2 !

Just remember, getting the right car is easy... learning to drive well is very tough and takes lots of practice.

true.... but thats like bringing a gun to a knife fight. They were talking Evo vs. S2000's .... now if it was us against a SupraTT with upgrades we'd get spanked on that track.

In fact, if someone can beat the Wayne on similar tires, or beat the S2000s on the Honda Hall of Fame, I'll post their picture on nsxfiles.com and make them famous, along with links to their aftermarket go-fast parts that they have on their car. (which might help get ya some freebies)
We'll be running our EVO at Willow Springs a couple of days before the T-hill event. If we get wrapped quickly and manage to get back to Norcal in time, we'll be happy to take you up on your challenge. Although I don't know how many 'freebies' are needed on our car

Cheers,

oooh **** talking.

I don't think bobcats 1:58s in my car are fair game at all. Anyone crazy enuf to gut your evo and make it a race car? hehe give it 1-2 years

That being said, speedventures has all of the previous results listed on their site and we can get lots of old times.

Fastest Stock S2K - 2:12.1
NA on R-Compounds: 2:08.7
SC'd on R-Compounds: 2:08.1
NA w/ Shocks on R-Compounds: 2:06.0

I'd love to see the evo's bring it.

I'm not sure you guys got it

It's not a track day, unfortunately. It's a SCC magazine test, comparing a bunch of uncorked EVOs at Streets-- not big Willow. With 500+hp some some of the EVOs will be packing, I wouldn't want to be driving them, cageless, on the big track entering turn 8-9!

Shiv,
throw some timing equipment (Hot Lap, AMB, Micron) on the EVOs for the Street of Willow. The S2000's run the following times using clockwise, with the bowl, and skidpad:
http://www.nsxfiles.com/fame_sows.htm

I know a lot of people are interested in EVO times on a technical, cornering track like the Streets. I think the EVOs will do well, and would like to see laptimes compared to S2000.

That's funny, I know a guy in....ah...let's just say Southern California who's got some unbelieveable F1-budget amount in his NSX and it just blows up more spectacularly!

Sorry, couldn't let that one go by

Whats up with the Boeing Airbus sized wing on that S2K ? I'm all for form following function but damn - large n' in charge. That thing makes my EVO wing look downright shrimpy in comparison! I think my wing has ***** envy!

Holy Cessna Batman but hey......whatever works - that car is flying! (no pun intended)

heh, wings rule

Here is a vid of my fastest lap of this past weekend at sears point. A 1:49.06. I wanted a :48 but never found one. This lap includes a pass under braking into 11.

I have just recently started taping me. Its nice to go back and watch your mistakes afterwards. I have a quite a few in this lap.

Just a note for those of you reading this thread in horror. All this smack-talk from the S2000's *is* just in fun. The main focus of Speed Ventures events is for everyone to have a great time, not "vicious competition"; I don't want anyone wondering what the hell they're getting into.

And if Rylan's video has you worried about passing, keep in mind open passing is only allowed in the Advanced, Red group. Other groups require point-bys and allow passing only on straights. No one's going to run you off the track at a SV event.

Tryin' to keep the S2000 guys from freaking out the Evo guys

Haha, that video is purely awesome! I wish my s2k did that.

S2k guys are the classiest group of Japanese car road racers out there. If anything, I would love to see some of that attitude with the EVO guys. I haven't seen any other group of guys push each other harder at achieving faster times and better driving skills.

How many S2ks are expected to show up at the SV 3 day weekend?
