It's not going anywhere...lol. It's like the wheel spacers Dallas makes that are basically 5 legs, not a complete disc...

got it - then i think i'd just as rather use the 9/16ths with safety stop to drill the hole? that way it'd be the safest as far as me not screwing something up

Idk what the safety stop is for. Those are generally used to not go to deep, but you want to drill all the way through on this.

that drill bit i used chipped pretty quick. good thing i had the backup reamer bit. i think it was 9/16". sprayed some wd40, they bite very aggressive, so hold on to the drill tight and don't need to push on it much.

correct. i had to ream out my AMS brake duck. which didnt fit very well on the evo 9 calipers anyways. they were cut out to fit perfectly on evo 9 calipers.

that said actually, the brake ducts on the website say they fit 6-X, so I guess those holes are oversized for 8/9s

I've wanted to do this mod too but thought I would have to take the knuckle off the car and drill it out under my drill press to ensure I keep the hole straight. But I guess the reamer drill helps keep it straight.

yea that's what i'm understanding.

well on my way to getting this done. bought some shabby X calipers off of ebay, sent them off to be powdercoated to stock and rebuilt with RB's vented pistons & high-temp seals, and have put my wheels up for sale.

still need to buy the reamer bit, sell my 9 calipers, and find some damn 18x9.5's that will fit without needing a pull/bumper bolt relocation

btw it's been a pain to organize all this.. god i hope the braking is actually different lol. my last autox abs was kicking in the whole stop due to cold brakes but my god the car wouldn't stop

I'm really looking forward to doing this myself. Even scored some EvoX calipers. But I've already rebuilt my OE brembos and have Girodisc 2pc rotors for them. Guess I could try and sell them and pickup EvoX rotors...

why not just go the common route with wheels that's been proven to work. rpf1 18x10 +38 with 20mm spacers up front. and rpf1 wheels are cheap.

i think weds in 18x9.5 +35 are the even easier button

i got weds when i decided to go the performance route and i haven't been crazy about them. i figure this time, if i'm gonna get a set of wheels, and likely my only set, i want to get something that i really like - in this case, some ce28ns. thinking about ce28sl 18x10 +40, but per the wheel fitment expert i'll probably knock into the rear trailing arms

I may be interested in the rotors.

I'm scrolling form my phone and can't find: Do the X calipers use the same pads as the VIII/IX?

I LITERALLY just bought a set of pads for my IX LOL. The only reason I'm considering this swap is that I have to buy wheels. All this time I was restricted by my 17s, but now they are gone. I can kinda go whichever direction I want, now.

buy my dba rotors instead! much cheap! much fast!

pads are the same yes. pistons are the same too. as far as i can tell most of the benefit seems to come strictly from being a larger rotor, which is odd - you'd think the heat sink would be the benefit sure, but not the actual clamping force
