100 tread wear tire talk. Need some opinions from track gurus

Morning EvoM!

I wanna here some thoughts and opinions on tire size and wheel width. My Evo is set up to run GTA limited class which means you are limited to 100 tread wear minimum. I previously ran 265 Hankook TD's on a 9.5 wheel and the car was amazing (sad I can't run TD's in the class). Before the TD's I always defaulted to 275 NT01's on 9.5 wheels.

So here we are today and my Evo no has a lot more fender room, increased power, more aero etc. Car makes a little over 500hp, dry sumped, 14K/16K springs

Would a 305 NT01 on a 11" wheel be silly? I seems there is nothing really in between a 275 and a 305? I know Toyo R888r have a 295 I believe. I absolutely hated the previous versions on R888's (not sure how the new compound is).

Any input would be awesome. Thanks Fellas.

From posts I've read I wouldn't buy R888's. With that being said they do have a new compound for it now, wouldn't be the first to try though. I say if you can fit the 305 then do it. Don't think there is a better 100 treadwear tire than the NT01

- Nitto NT-01
- Toyo R888R
- Maxxis Victra RC-1
- Bridgestone RE71-R / BF Goodrich Rival S

Those seems to be the hot pick for Limited class time attack nowadays

the rc1 is a good tire. i really liked the characteristics, ive havent personally run on nt01's but ive been told the rc1 and nt01 are pretty similar. great heat tolerance, good grip, and the dam things dont seem to wear. they seem to be run more and more lately.

A local guy in Vegas with a Noble didn't think the RC1 had the ultimate grip of the NT01. Said he wasn't happy with the RC1's. He's the only person I've heard say that though...lol

I run 245/15 RC1s on my Miata and love them. If they had bigger than 275 I'd probably run them. It looks like I am going to buy some 305 NT01's

Does Nitto continue to enhance the NT01 as time goes by or is it the same great tire it always was?

Per the rep I spoke with at SEMA 2016, it is unchanged. They didn't even have the tire at the show..

don't rule out Toyo RA1's (shaved) or the Kuhmo v720 ACR version.

What? How? I have never heard this from anyone at the track or my buddies using them on the street. Only bad I have heard is the noise at around and under 50% tread and wet traction going off around the same time. But as far as dry traction is concerned, i have heard nothing but good.

Please elaborate on your disapproval.

They heat cycle out before wearing out. NT01's will be great until you cord them..
