2017 SCCA Solo ASP Discussion
Well....since someone started the STU/SM thread, I think it would only be appropriate to have an ASP thread assuming there are more than 1 that currently exists.
My car is actually closer to STU than ASP, but I have no intention to either de-mod or mod to move to either STU/SM at the moment, so I will continue to run in ASP as it sits until I decide what to do with it. =)
Anyways, slowly putting bits and pieces back to get ready for the NJ Pro Solo. The previous owner of my car may be driving with me this year.

Great thread, I'm in a similar situation as you as my car is more in lines with STU. I do compete locally with the ASP guys. It's one of if not the most competitive classes in our local region.

I feel like the ASP national caliber crowd doesn't have a huge presence here. Development is tough to do what hasn't already been done. I of course will watch this to see if any new tricks pop up.
Im personally conspiring to get the former ASP champs to move up to SM so new blood and ideas will be nice to see.

Well unless you guys are talking about the Evo X it seems like the 8/9's are already the perfect ASP car. At 2016 Nats they cleaned up the podium spots and half of the top ten were Evo 8/9's. To me, being an X driver is what can I do to get in contention. I really havent seen much talk on development of the X (though I may have missed it despite searching) which I'm guessing is due to the weight disadvantage. I would like to hear from people who have developed the X on how much tire they have been able successfully stuff and the added advantage it produced. Im thinking ill be able to fit 295 A7's without much work as Im now on 285 RE71s with room to spare. An SM buddy of mine is trying to coax me to stuff 315s!

So the question on an X is what offset on a 10.5" rim will yield the easiest/best fitment for a 315 A7?
I know the +15 will work with a good amount of modification but will a +22 fit better? Will a +22 hit the shock/strut assembly... or anything else for that matter?
Below are pics of +15 with 315.

The same buddy from the pics mentioned he had to run a spacer in the front.... which I'm sure is set-up dependent.
This topic is particularly concerning to me as I'm about 2 seconds from pulling the trigger on a set of wheels and now not sure which offset to get. I was originally thinking to go with a +22 with a 295 A7 but now I'm wondering if that offset would work if I decided to go with a 315 A7. I suppose I could always use a spacer on the +22 but the +22 wheel I am looking at is twice the price of the +15.
