I was under the impression that active diffs are not free (code changes I mean) in SP (like SM is where you have to go to be able to do so)...was that changed recently or I am way off?

Thanks for the assistance, guys! I'll look into the rear diff more seriously.
The funny thing is with my old '03 evo, I could get that thing to power oversteer on command with the AST 10kg/11kg coilovers and a rear adjustable antisway. I'm unsure I'd want any more rotation that what that car had to be honest (open front diff and rear diff was untouched).
Curiosity question that is somewhat related to the above paragraph: Would having an open front differential (like my '03 had) either help or hurt the rotation of the rear end of the car as compared to having an evo with a front LSD? All else being equal of course...

Open front diff will be an issue when one wheel is up in the air and you are trying to put lots of power down. Both of these issues are workable with smooth driving and 60:40 weight distribution, though. Aside from that, there is not much difference to me.

The OEM LSD does not cause off throttle/corner entry understeer. And it only helps to reduce understeer by not letting the inside front tire spin up on power/corner exit.

back on the car now. exhausted. next event in evo is 10/8, so it won't be then until i notice a difference, though i may drive it to work that week idk.
thin white line is the plastic self-lubricating thrust washer, thin steel washer is between that and the spring that you can't see. they weren't the same OD which I thought was odd, seems like with enough pressure and time the steel one would dig itself into the plastic one, but maybe that's the point, idk. anyway it's on, hopefully i notice less sound or best of all maybe smoother turning/steering or something idk. prob won't notice anything.
