"....I think we'll go with this.".

Best quote ever. Congrats, dude. If I decide to keep my Evo long term, I'll also be running your stuff.

If you asked me 5 years ago if I'd be here I couldn't imagine it. I started with converting a grizzly G0704 to CNC. Just makes me wonder where things go in another 5 years. I have found the Jobshop stuff and profits you can make there once you get some skills under your belt. Purely a side gig but its hard not to enjoy the ride

Been trying to think of a way to fix the Ohlin Flag issue of locating pins breaking easily and replacements being sort of a pain. I know this issue isnt really an everyone type of thing, but I need something SS to practice on for future jobs.

My plan with the pin is to increase the hex diameter from 10 to 12mm giving a bit larger lever against the threads that seem to bend. Also putting some gentler transitions and use 4140 to get as much strength as I can out of it. I also added a small flange at the end to help hold onto a rubber bushing. Don't know if it will hold up, but its worth trying to reduce some steering clunking.

The bigger gain is remaking the bearing housing with the hole pattern centered. The offset on the Ohlins housing means I cant run 2 studs unless I remake it. Good things I have some fancy machines

maaan ive got alot to learn. This area you specialise in is the only area ive kinda neglected so far Dallas.

All ive done suspension wise on my car is tein monoflex coilovers with different spring rates. whiteline rear sway bar. adjustable sway bar links front and rear. and hardrace rear camber arms. not a fan of the hardrace products but i needed something and it was readily available. and ive done most of the bushings in nolathane.

I really need to learn more about suspension and wheel alignment and geometry as i think thats where the most time gain i can get lies. currently my wheel alignment is stupidly basic and probably letting me down alot. 3deg neg camber and 1mm toe in on rear. thats it. But i dont understand it well enough to try anything and there isnt much knowledge down here wheel alignment and suspension wise for circuit evos. lots of knowledge for gravel and rally but nothing for circuit

Would definately be keen to check out your range of products at some point dallas. Would probably do quite well down in australasia as nobody really does anything like that down here.

Racefab does sell custom subframe and control arms package down in that part of the world
Seems to be pretty well known too

Agreed, they haven't (publicly) made front hubs to match for some reason. What Dallas is doing address's specific issues that mate together to fix several problems geometrically rather then just adjustment issues. The rest of RF's arms and subframes should mate up to his stuff just fine.

Just got my first version printed today for a billet collector for an exhaust manifold. Still have some tweaks to make but I'm happy with how it's coming along. Not sure how soon (if ever) I'm going to have one made out of metal since machining stainless is so expensive.

Nice! Though yes, that will be prohibitively expensive to get made especially only 1. It would either need some fancy fixturing and lots of setups or more realistically 5axis to machine. You also need it in 304 or 316 which sucks to machine in general and those deep tool paths will just make it worse.

I cant even find a block of 304 or 316 big enough to machine that out of online but I'd expect one or two to be painful.

Yea I measured it out as needing a chunk of 6" diameter round stock 4" in length. About $200 through Alro for 304. We have a 5 axis at school but I'm not sure I could talk any of the profs into using it with stainless, nor do I know if we have endmills long enough to get inside. There was talk of buying a metal printer for the manufacturing building so if that comes about then it's definitely doable.

JMF sells their collector for ~$100. That was my original plan. If this doesn't pan out that's my fallback option.

After talking to a certain fabricator about making me a manifold he told me he was interested in having a billet collector made so I offered to draw him one up. I'm already printing a V2 that's getting mailed to him tomorrow to test fit on his jig.

1. Print out collectors
2. Take to investment casting place and they can use it to make their molds and then burn out the plastic.

I think there is a material even specifically made for that purpose that works in the printers but I've heard the standard ABS plastic can be used too.

This one was printed in PLA. I could use ABS too. If I did that I'd probably use PVA because it is water soluble so it'd be easy to get out. The only issue I can think of is that doing a one off casting wouldn't be cheap. I've never really looked into casting parts but I can't see it being a ton cheaper than machining for a one off piece.

I'd probably be more inclined to look into getting some made if someone approached me looking for a small run to be made but I just don't see that happening.
