F Prepared Solo 2 Evolution VIII
Ok so I went out to the Texas motor Speedway bus lot to see what was going on and check out Mark and Sebastian Berry's FP Evolution VIII...
All I can say is wow. The entire car only weighs 2352 pounds. Unfortunately, this was about 100 pounds under the legal minimum for the class so the times did not count. However, once the new smaller 16" lightweight wheels come in the car will be 32 pounds lighter at 2320 pounds which, because of the wheel size, will only be 80 pounds under the minimum which will be corrected with a bit of ballast. Here are some pictures of what an "F Prepared" Evolution looks like. First the outside says there is something going on -- no headlights and a lightweight super thin CF hood that weighs a mere 5 pounds. It has no hinges and is held in place with special clips. Nothing but the gauge cluster, ECUs, and necessary wiring. There is no backseat. But a view from the backseat area looks like this... Click image to see a larger view.
http://www.reddragonproductions.com/...-dashview2.JPG The insides of the doors have had the panels removed, the sound padding scraped off, and additional holes drilled into them to make them even lighter. Opening and closing these doors feels like turning the page of a book and must be done gently to keep from breaking anything. I missed my estimated weight of the stripped down Evo by over 100 lbs. It was actually a good thing, in the long run, that it was extra low and will be 2320 with the new wheels and without the passenger seat/belt. This means its time to corner balance the car and figure out where to add 80 lbs to reach minimum weight before the next event Aug 31. It's amazing what taking almost 1000lbs out of an Evo does for your acceleration. It exposed the weakness of our older 285/30/18 tires. Soft slicks will arrive in the next 2 weeks with a set of 16 x 10" rims that have been in manufacture for the past two months. Mark |
That is Ultra Light.

I just completed the editing of the video and got it uploaded. Here is the link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqFdQ2EU5dA Forgive the quality. It was filmed on a point-and-shoot camera and had some trouble locking in with exposure and focus issues. Also, it's hard to hold a small camera steady so about that too. Enjoy! |
That thing should absolutely dominate anything w/ fenders--wow...
How deep was your fendered FTD? |
Stunning. 2320 is not that far off my E-Stock Miata.
I would love to drive it. FP has a pretty interesting PAX #'s. |
