275 35R18 Slick on NT03 10.5 stock body Evo
 

Looking for some advice. I know this is a wheel tire fitment qestion but it has to do with slicks so I figured this is a good place for it.

I am running 18X10.5 +30 with a 25mm spacer on the front. I am looking at getting a set of used slicks. My tire guy has R6 255 or 275.

I am worried the 255 will be too streached and no sure if I can tuck a set of 275s.

Car has the front fender mod and rolled fenders. Camber is more then 3 on the fron and around 2 in the back. I can and will get it realigned so specs don't matter much.

And advice on going with the 255 or the 275.

Honestly I wouldn't even consider the 255. I personally feel the results you would get wouldn't be worth the money spent on them. it's just too stretched for track use. sidewall strength won't be there when cornering really hard. last thing you want is to take a corner and have the bead pop then have a rim be destroyed. plus with -3 degrees of camber you'll be riding on part of the sidewall. I would find a way to make the 275's fit. There's member on here selling a set of replica voltex front fenders for 200 shipped. pick those up and ditch the feder mod, this way you can run 275 for days.

Is the front the only possible issue? I found a tire to test fit so I think I am going to try that.

The rears might have to be massaged a little, but test fit them and try it out. My only worry about your front is the spacer. a 18x10.5 +5 is a pretty aggressive fitment. could you run a smaller spacer?!

18x10 might work, but I definitely think 10.5 is too wide for stock body.

If you google "evo 9 18x10.5" you'll see a picture of a stock body tarmac black evo 9 with some orange 18x10.5 +30 NT03's on 265/35/18's with no spacers. He's making it work but pushing it to the max. In your case I think 275 is gonna be a bit of a challenge but worth a shot. I say go for it and test fit them and see what you can do.

10.5's are not simple bolt ons but they can be made to fit the stock/slightly modified body. These are 285/30-18 hoosier A6's on the 10.5+30 nto3's with a 25mm spacer up front.

In the rear you need the full complement (roll, pull, bumper bolt & then some). Running a 10.5" you are likely getting too close to the LCA. Likely needed are the chromoly arms

May I ask what is the intended use for this wheel combo? Drag, Road course, AutoX? Also what level of Power are you tuned for?

I run my X with 275's and 18x10.5's for road courses and I wonder if its too much tire and wheel. Maybe the same tire but with a 10 or 9.5 wheel would be better suited for my needs.

I had 275's on my VIII back in the day and thought I was quick. But ended up doing a faster lap at Watkins Glen with 255's. It didn't look as bad ass but I was averaging 2:13's consistently.

Care to share what you did to make them fit?

Well the 10.5's have been on the car for weeks and in fact the previous owner tracked with them so the wheels are not the issue. The tires on the other hand may be. More worried about the fender side on the back.

In all honesty its what I have and I like the look. Car will be road raced. I have the 10.5's I have a cheap source of 275's. I will test fit one Thursday and post what I decide to do.

basically bolted them on and got a hammer, grinder, drill and fender roller and went to town until they worked. :lol:

i'm running the NT03 18X10.5 on stock fenders with some fender rolling/pushing in the rear.

I've been running 275/35-18 Hoosiers. no rubbing except for on the rear trailing arm which can be fixed with a small grinder.

The fronts are no issue at all. I'm not using any spacers.
