Seems like the general group here is a bunch of makers and builders, here's a place to show off things you made not bought. Or maybe you have a killer idea and a napkin sketch for another maker to run with.

I'll start with something I think I need. I posted yesterday about bending a rear ohlin shock shaft. To reduce at least one source of bending load I'm going to make a coaxial spring perch. I measured a few things on the shock yesterday and replacing the lower spacer with a perch I can retain the boot keeper and will use up the excess thread between top bolt and adjuster. If I need a little more space, I can also remake the centering spacer shorter since its excessively tall.

Simple, but should work perfect.

The only time I've heard the term coaxial is when referring to cable. What is this perch going to do?

This perch is fixed to the shaft and not the top hat. Basically doing the same thing as in the front.

Another more expensive option is the hyperco hydraulic spring perch but theyre much more expensive. That would allow tilt compensation but my way just fixes the spring faces to stay parallel.

I'd like to see a small wish list of what people would like to see made. I don't have the know how or tools to make my own parts... Smaller brackets, and modifying stuff I can do.

As I mentioned, a well thought out ACD relocation kit, aluminum rear trans mount, front mount oil cooler/PS kit, are what I am presently in the market for lol

I'll probably make a few sets if people have interest in them, but first I gotta mock it up and make sure theirs still enough articulation in the top hat. Also gotta finish the control arms before the end of the month to test before heading to crows.

I would buy that. I'm sure it will be less expensive than potentially replacing a shaft.

Well, it's not much.. but I made my own sway bar end links. And I have a cardboard version of a heat shield for my air filter that uses the OEM air scoop. I just have to fab it together. Yes, someone probably makes and sells them, but this one is mine LOL.

there is enough articulation for coaxial rear spring perches if you do it right. :)

Nice to know I'm on the right track then {thumbup}. I have my parts printing now to check function but I looks like a no brainer upgrade to me for shock longevity. Especially since I have the means to make it free (for me..).

Can someone explain the logic behind them? It uncouples the spring/perch from the top hat? Is that right?

Yes, and it keeps the spring from bending so that the force of the spring is parallel with the shock shaft. So you don't bend the shaft.

RE says those are just basic spring perches and recommend the hydraulic perches to avoid binding. Am I missing the advantage? Just curious.
