Who Wants Some PROPER AFFORDABLE Track Wheels?
 

Hey guys so I started talking with the marketing director at Konig wheels about producing something WIDE that fits evos well. Ideally I'm thinking an 18x11 +35. As it stands no one really offers a higher offset 11" wheel so this would be great for us.

Konig already sells an 18x11 +15 that retails at $246 and weighs 20.69lbs so these would be at a similar price and a hair lighter.

So who's interested? I'd love to be able to give Konig something of a rough head count. They seem like they're very interested in helping the racing community which is awesome so I'd love to have this work out.

I think an 18x10.5 +35 or +38 would be more palatable for most.

Enkei already offers an 18x10.5 +38. Yea another option would be cool but I'm trying to making 315s more of a mainstream thing here. Yea they can be run on a 10.5 but they'd be way happier on an 11.

I think an 18x10.5 +30 to +38 that didn't require spacers AND fit nicely, is what everyone wants🤔

That literally already exists in several flavors. But Evos and dont have any option bigger than 10.5 without getting either super heavy or super expensive.

Asking for another 10.5" option is pointless.

Is 18x11 the ideal size for 315s on the Evo? Or should we be aiming for 11.5 or 12?

Subbed as well. I was just literally looking at wheels for track use and ran into this thread.

11-11.5 would be best primarily because the 315s typically call for max 11.5 wheel. Its a bit arbitrary and I do know the Rival 315 does perform better on a mustang with a 12" wheel over an 11".

The reason I'm pitching 11" here is because they already have a mold for 11" wheel, the only change required is for the hub mounting area to be thinned up which would be considerably less work than making a new mold from the ground up.

There are a fair amount of guys running 315s on 10.5" wheels and it works but they're happier on 11". Even wider would probably be better but again, trying to make this a cost effective solution for us. I think $1k for a full set of flow formed fairly light wheels is a damn good deal.

11" would be a step in the right direction so put me down. Weight and price seem to be solid too so thats nice. Although, as mentioned 11.5 or 12" would be even better but I get where youre coming from. I think youre right on the money with the offsets too btw, Its probably easier to cut outside metal vs inside so wider we go the lower the offset we need.

11" wheel in the 20lb range and Im on board. The Forgestars are great for fitting odd setups but theyre 5lbs/wheel heavier in my 18x12. I plan on running a set of Street tire 315s for track day stuff and would swap out my 18x10.5 PF01 for these since its very slightly lighter but that extra 1/2" will absolutely make a difference.

On the hoosiers the difference of 1/2" going from the 10 to the 10.5" was a big jump in feel to me. The 10" they always felt a bit mushy even running high pressures to the point I actually preferred the slower Kumho because it had much better feel. 315s in a hoosier definitely need 12" wheel but for street tires an 11" should be perfect.

I forgot to quote another post, but Austin said the "already have an 11" mold". Well, they have 10.5" molds too, but they only offer lower offset. My think is the currently available 10.5" options are all $350 or more. A Konig option would be be ~$250 retail, and street price of ~$200..
