Most inspection places just use the OBDII scanner. If it passes the internal test/diag routine then you are good to go. If your test pipe is throwing a CEL, there is a flash to permanently resolve that. I've never had a shop physically look underneath for a cat.

The only way you would fail at that point is if they use the sniffer.

Just my 2 cents.

I passed all of the scans. I am using the Tephra mods. I failed due to a visual inspection after or before the scan not really sure. I have under 15 days to bring it back for a no cost re-inspection. The ***** even told me to slap a cat on there just for inspection and then take it off. Also that someone must have modded the ecu to force pass with no rear o2, etc. Seems to me if he knew it from the get go to simply tell me to shove off instead of driving car around, charging me and then failing my car. It is a new tech and they have passed my car twice before with the same mods. I have even passed the sniffer in the past.

Oh well. I won't be going back there with any of my vehicles in the future after this is done.

actually they usually do pass with the sniffer, technically makes it legal if you have a resonator plus muffler which = two forms of "restriction". even whilst spitting oil and gas out of the exhaust

i'm upfront about most of it since i refuse to let any of them drive my car....

I remember reading in the how-tos a shielding mod (but may be timely or require welding, it was a long time ago, like 07 when i read it)where they took cat shielding and put it over their test pipe with wiring and all for cali folks.

but down to something reasonable, i'd think somebody is willing to lend you their cat for a couplle days or a friendly but needed ntec "rental" of such if i could help i would. gl!

also, wth they charged you before the inspection!? it was a kwik kar wasnt it? they used to not charge if you failed and is same unless things have changed that much in the last 9 or 10 months.
