.... what?

Evo_Jr Aug 14, 2012 06:24 AM

Pics/videos/news were requested to not be shared by the Evod team. I'm sure this is why this thread was ended.

Kracka Aug 14, 2012 06:30 AM

Why the secrecy? It's already all over the entire internet on every auto-related website out there.

:confused:

That's what I said.. The injuries were not that bad either, but not sure. OP edited this thread about the same time KevinD sent the news last night.

I did, he did ask politely for us (the collective internet) to stop sharing footage, so I obliged. But it's still on Top Gear, Autoblog, Jalaponik, and Reddit so...:confused:

What they are frustrated by is the morons that are just making **** up about their drivers and car. Bottom line... If your not the owner, the builder, the driver, you don't know what happened.

Too many people were spreading rumors and just making up stuff. When they get back, they will gladly post all the footage from their cameras and share exactly what happened.{thumbup}

exactly, lots of false rumors. also, we had to sort out media rights with the pictures and video we have with PPIHC. i posted up the pictures i took of the wreckage in the motorsport section. those pictures are free to copy and paste as you want.

There's always going to be falsehoods and rumors. I've seen tons of them myself from plenty of armchair racers, a lot of them probably from the hella flush community trolling youtube, saying things like "If it was a Subie it would have made the turn." Etc. They don't know **** about performance cars or racing.

The video on youtube, as of right now, now has over 1.4 million views in about 24 hours. I know it's not necessarily the way you wanted it to happen, but Jeremy, Kevin, and the shop EvoD are pretty much famous worldwide now. I know that's not the way anyone wanted it to go down but racing is a spectator sport and is a lot like show business. People want to see a show and by God they saw one they won't soon forget.

I've seen and read plenty of comments from douches spouting cruel and ignorant things. They forget that the people who run Pike's Peak are someone's friends, a woman's husband, or maybe a child's father. Like I said, they know nothing. But if there's one good thing that came form this -- and nearly everyone who knows anything about cars is making note of -- it's the incredible engineering of that cage that saved the occupant's lives without so much as a broken bone. And thank goodness for that because I consider Jeremy a good friend. I have never met Yuri but I am also glad to hear he will make a good recovery.

I expect to see around 3 million views on the original youtube video by the end of the week. If you have any in-car video you're willing to put up, I'm sure it would easily hit 5 million views by my estimations. There will always be those who will view it purely for entertainment and will talk smack. But what's most important, is the fact that the driver got up and climbed out of that car on his own. That is a testament to the solid engineering and design for both performance and safety that went in to that car. If anything, the videos and pictures show THAT!

Heck...even their few photo came up on one of korean web as well...yeah my wife told me about it this morning. Sad...everyone just going crazy about after accident.. Anyway, i think a lot of people will remember EvoD names from this. i guess there is good and bad.

Hey kev, don't forget about us even you get super busy!{thumbup}

chkmgnt59 Aug 15, 2012 06:05 AM

I haven't read enough to see what rumors are going around but I took two things away from the video:

1) Buy the man who built that cage a beer. Or lots of beers.
2) Racing happens, and on that corner, anything goes wrong you go off the mountain. Sucks, but sometimes you're just too hot for a corner for any number of reasons.

I can't imagine what anyone would be saying as far as negative things. I guess questioning driver skill.. but anyone doing that probably has racing experience equivalent to downshifting their civic as they pass a Ferrari on the highway at 75mph.

Evo_Jr Aug 15, 2012 06:38 AM

I know KevinD is up to his head with everything going around, but does anybody know when Evod will re-open?

Acree Aug 15, 2012 10:59 AM

The crash was on ESPN last night.
