I told Dean about this event and forwarded him the link to this thread.
Thanks Eric,
He asked if we were still going, and I had no clue who he was. He said that him and some friends were interested in going, but I have yet to get his final pm confirmation.
Talk to you guys in a week, off to Mexico!!!!!!!

Car parts are a special fund that I save for, when I get enough to buy what I want, I buy it. Gas money on the other hand is just that, and if I spend it on sr26, then I take away from my gas money to make the 90 mile round trip drive each day to work.
For those of you interested, here is the schedule of events for the 21st of May (Weather Pending, and Doug will have to reschedule the event for a future time). I can meet others from the Cleveland area at "The Lot" in North Olmsted 7:15 am, only if someone responds to this post. I will be leaving Elyria/Cleveland area @ 7am to meet Doug @ "The Strip" by Beldon Village mall in Canton off of I-77. We will be getting breakfast at the Einstein Bagel place in the parking lot, and then heading out to Marietta.
I-77 South - Meet with Doug @ 8:20 am in Boarders parking lot. Get breakfast, and return to I-77 South
I-70 West
SR 800 @ the 202 mile marker
Small stint on SR 148
Turn onto SR 26 from 148 until we reach Marietta
Eat lunch in Marietta, and picture taking.
Take I-77 North the whole way home, or reverse the trip and go through again.
Remeber the items that need to be with you when you arrive at one of the meeting points.
1) Photocopies of License and insurance
2) Sign Waiver

I won't leave you hanging, so don't worry about that Doug! I am going to Switzer's on Wednesday to see if Matt and Scott are still interested, and give them the paperwork.
Eric, the reason I asked for a waiver signing is because I didn't want anyone coming back on me incase of reckless driving. Remember, this is over 50 plus miles of twisting roads and not just a stint through the Metroparks like last year's meets, and will last longer than a 5 minute drive. I'm sorry if that scared anyone, but you have to realize the potential risk I am taking to organize an event like this. The Ohio S2000 guys had to sign the exact same waiver to drive the route, as that is where I got the information from in the first place.

It's all in the way you go about it. If you just tell people to eat ****, not only will they not eat it; but they could also be pissed about you just telling them to eat ****. If you ask the right way not only will they eat ****, they will be more than happy to do it. They still may not like the taste though. =)
It just seemed a bit totalitarian for me to jump through all these hoops just to drive my own car on public roads that if I am idiot enough to wreck (or cause someone else to wreck) well then by golly it's my own damn fault and like I said, then I'm an idiot.
No one wants to be told something is MANDATORY, especially for a hobby. I think we all deal with enough regulation, stress, and pressure in our daily grinds. That's why we have hobbies, to get away from all that BS.

In every club (BMW, Audi, Porsche, Trackquest) I've been with, a simple "release of liability" waiver signed the day of the event was all that was ever required.
I do concur with Mike that some release is necessary in this litigious society, but I agree with the others that in this case the requirements were a bit more than required.

^^^^^^^ I will respond to the above two threads.
1) Bobby, I don't want to come across like an *** and I do agree with some of your statements, but I could potentially be sued by someone if something went wrong. I hope you can see the issue from my standpoint, and maybe I was alittle over zealous and ticked that the interest wasn't there. I apologize for that, but I'm just trying to cover my *** if something went wrong.
2) Deetz, I have never organized an event before like this, and was just modeling the procedure that I went through with the S2000 club. I should have only required a waiver signature, and left it at that.
Doug and I will have a great time anyways!

Please, please don't take offense, Mike.
May I be the spokesman for many in the group, and commend you for your efforts and thank you for what you've done, and continue to do. Not many people in any organization step up to actually organize anything. Thanks.
Just sorry some of us (including me) are busy - or we'd all be drive'in...
