North Carolina Emissions

I'm getting my car insured and registered in N.C. this month. I was wondering, for all that live in North Crackalakin, what are the inspection laws there? Are they strict as Cali and NY?

I'll be staying in NY and I wanna make sure my car will be up to par w/ NC Emissions.

let me know...

1 license plate too right?

The laws are fairly strict here. You can get away with a few things, it all depends on where you take it to get checked. The cops are okay here some good some bad just like anywhere USA I guess. They love to hand out tickets for tint I know RPD just got 8-10 new tint meters and they certianly like to use them. I would be more concerened about get a citation for tint than improper equipment. And yes no drilling the front bumper we only require one tag. Where are you gonna be in NC? I say this because in NC different counties have very different laws within the State Emmision laws, so this will also play a factor.

I don't know if any state's emissions laws are more strict than California's. All the cigarette smoke here probably poses more of a hazard than all the modified exhausts in the state.

I've been told that they check emissions on '95 and up cars. However, I don't know how strict they are. They also require you to go to a mechanic shop for an inspection. They mainly check that you have brakes, working lights, etc. I don't know how they treat mods tho... You might want to just call Tuffy Auto and ask or call the state.

What do you know about the Wake Forest area? My parents live down there, and I've been contemplating switching tags to avoid unnecessary hastle.
