Out of state tint ticket in NY

I was on my way up to visit my friend at Hamilton in upstate New York and got pulled over by a state trooper for my tint. He was pretty nice about it and said that he would just write me up for my driver's side window. He also handed me a ticket and then a deposition. The ticket says nothing about a fine or fix-it or anything. He just told me to send in the ticket and check the box next to the guilty section. My question is this, does anybody know what the NY fine is for tint? I didn't think I could get pulled over out of state for tint . Anyways, I might be getting my eye doctor to write me a letter since I actually have very sensative eyes (my perscription is -7.50 ).

call the number and speak to someone about it or call the police station and ask them about it.

NY cops are the worst about this stuff. The fine could be anywhere around $40-80 I think. They usually don't give you a ticket if you are out of state but the majority of the cops here are ridiculous about tints. Where in upstate were you?

in ny, tint is a non-moving violation, so if the tint is legal in your state, then you can't be ticketed. pm me if you need more help with this.

It doesnt go on your license. It is an equiptment violation. If you get a ticket in NY for an equiptment violation your suppose to get a white piece of paper from the officer that states the charges are completely dropped if its repaired within 24 hours. After you take care of the violation you go to any police station or trooper barracks and show them its been fixed and its imediately dismissed without going to court.

the fix it part you stated is correct, however, a conviction, such as a plea of guilty does show up on your abstract. it doesn't carry points in ny, however, if your state assigns points or some other penalty for the same type of offence, it could cause a problem with your license or insurance. i'm not sure how ct treats window tint violations, so i can't advise you on that. just be careful. don't plead guilty just because it doesn't carry any points in ny. plus, imo you shouldn't have been charged in the first place.
