Jestr Tuning Day

This is a confirmed Jestr Tuning Day at International Motorsports located at 1372 Main Avenue; Clifton, New Jersey 07011 (973-253-3900). IMP (as they are called) has a Mustang dyno (MD-AWD-500), which is the most ideal dyno for AWD cars.

UPDATE: Alright we are good to go for March 17th beginning at 9 a.m. Jestr has requested a deposit of $100 be forwarded to him via paypal at jestr@jestrtuning.com. Please post up when the money is set as this will determine the order in which everyone goes.

Dyno fees will be depedent upon the number of people that go. A full day is $1k and will be split up amongst everyone that shows, however, if only a few commit than the fee will be lower, close to $100 per.

Evodan2004 has offered to video tape everyone's run if interested. He has just requested that you provide hime with some sort of contact info, most likely her would prefer an address.

If anyone has any questions or concerns you can either PM me or call me at 215-450-1251.

Confirmed list (as of 3/15/07):

1. ElectricEvoIX (paid)
2. Justin M (paid)
3. autoOutcast (paid
4. Ill-Luzion (paid)
5. Blacktypes (paid)
6. Yellowfever (?)
7. sicKzofive (?)

Sounds good but, this is all dependent upon more people committing. So far we only have 3, including me. The other option is to travel down to the DC area on the 10th because Jestr will be there then. That is a worst case scenario, although that would be a haul for you.

We'll just have to wait and see how many people commit.

Again, the more people that confirm the less the dyno fee will be. If you are confirmed that would give us a potential of 5 guys, so the dyno fee would obviously be $200 per, however, i know of a few other Suby guys that are interested in this as well, however, have to committ.

I am getting the same feeling unfortunetly. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. As a worst case scenario, Jestr will be in DC on the 10th, however, that is a haul for you but, would be worth it in my opinion.

FYI - I have heard some nasty things about Al and his tunes.

I've only heard stuff through the grape vine as I have never had any direct dealings with him so.... I've been told that he locks ECUs so that only he can access it. I've also heard he will not tune a car with mods he personally does not like or from companies he doesn't like. Thats the most prevelant complaints I have been told.

You know the internet can be very useful and helpful for helping people communicate with each other and learn things about cars - on the other hand - its really bad when people spread rumors and gosip and quote them as facts in an effort to tarnish someone's reputation.

I get really disappointed when supporters of other vendors try and pull me down to support someone else.

To respond to your claims you have heard in the grapevine :

1 - I have NO WAY to lock ecus. I change the init code so that dealers do not erase the flashes when customers come in for oil changes and service - anyone with ecu flash can simply upload the free ACTIVE MATRIX ecu unlocker from Malabu Jack's web site and open up any ecu that is out there. Again, the reason why I change the init code was after having to re-install reflashes on a weekly basis after dealers installed various TSB 0300 code updates on their cars without asking and without notifying the customers. Over the past years I have had to reinstall about one flash a week that was over written by dealers - so when Malabu Jack figured out a way to end that I was all over it.

The main thing to keep in mind is that I can leave any ecu init code unchanged at a customer's request and I can change back any ecu init that has been altered free of any charge.

Finally - the ACTIVE MATRIX forum has the free unlcoker to un open any ecu with any init code.

2 - As for the claim that i will not tune cars with mods I do not like that is untrue also.

I have been reflash tuning evos for a very long time and I have flashed more than anyone else that i can think of. While I will and do advise customers if I feel that a certain modification is lacking, I will tune any car that is presented to tune.

I have tuned many thousands of evos all over the USA.

I feel badly that you live in my own home area and harbor these negative feelings based upon hear say and gossip.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you to come and meet me, tour our facility with a brand new Dyno Dynamics AWD dyno and revieve a FREE custom Dyno Flash to try out and evaluate on your car with my compliments. My hope is that you will be very satisfied with my work as have the vast majoriety of my customers. If not, you can simply remove my free rom file it and re-install what ever other flash you want at a later date. My main thrust is to show you what we do and let you experience what goes on here to dispell these silly rumors you have heard through the grape vine.

We have nothing to hide here at my shop - we work hard all day - 7 days and do a careful job at working on evos.

Al

Al

I appreciate the offer and honesty. I graciously turn your offer down as I am more than happy and very impressed with Jestr Tuning's ROM in my personal car as well as many of the cars I have worked on.

Again, I apologize for appearing to start any sort of negative rumors, as I stated I have had no direct interaction with you and could only go off of what I have been told. I am glad you have dispelled alot of the rumors I have heard about you. Thank you for your honesty, it is a rare thing in this industry.

I too dispise these sort of rumors and I should have known better state them rather than simply call or speak with you directly.

Keep up the good work up there as I am sure you will continue to grow as you have over the years.

No problem man - I appreciate your diplomatic and professional manner of responding to this and your decency is a welcome breath of fresh air to the forums. Hope to see you at the track sometime - Phoenix is a great shop and I have seen those guys at SCCA events many times.

Yeah, Phoenix has an awesome track record. I'll be competing at NASA TTs this year and hopfully will be able to do enough to qualify for National, so hopefully we'll meet up some to shoot the poop.

Good luck with everyhing and no hard feelings :-)
