Exactly. Listen to Tim. If they have your car in on warranty work, then they owe you a form of transportation. Even if they have to let you drive a used vehicle on the lot. (which they have a Sky Redline which might be a little fun...)
I would not extend my demands if they are replacing your motor. I would be holding my breath until the keys are back in my hand that they dont decide it isnt a mitsu defect and tell you to screw (not saying they would of course)
I don't think he would be out of line asking for them to provide a rental car while his is being worked on. If they warrantied it, then it was obviously a flaw in the motor. And so he should not have to pay all kinds of $$ for a rental...just my opinion. YMMV.
Help with color choice please k thx

If the decision is made "Warranty" he is not out of line or in extent of any demand to get a form of transportation. It is not an arguable or negotiable situation. Nor any kind of "lets make a deal" situation. It is not a trade off to find your own means in order for them to justify the warranty claim and the time it takes to complete the repair. It just doesn't happen.
Mitsu- "How can I help you?"
Ajay- "Car broke"
Mitsu- "You need engine"
Ajay- "Holy ****"
Mitsu- "No worry, it is warranty. We will take care of it."
Ajay- "Great, Thank you. I need a vehicle to drive while you fix mine."
Mitsu- "No problem, here you go." <----- How a vehicle retailer should handle it.
It doesn't look good against a brand if they can not compensate temporary means of transportation, when the product you bought from them has failed. Especially the drivetrain.

You are missing the point though. If they are warranty-ing (speelling??) the work, it was due to a failure in their product. Since his car is going to be in the shop for awhile being fixed because of their failed product, why should he have to shell out extra cash? Think about it. They are not doing him a favor. They are doing what they need to do.
