Hello! New member from MA.

Hello! My names Alex. I'm new to the Evo scene leaving the S2000 scene. I've had my Octane Blue 08 Evo X GSR since August and I finally got a taste of how it handles in snow. I absolutely love it! These pictures were taken yesterday during some heavy snow in Central MA. Hope to meet with other MA residents soon!

BTW. Is it ok to have the snow packed up into the intercooler area? Seems to just plow the snow into there.

Congrats & nice choice! It's always a good idea to keep the intercooler area clear. If there are obstructions, it stops any air flow to the 'cooler. Cold weather is always a plus for a turbocharged-intercooled car, but the intercooler has to 'breathe'. Do you have snow tires on? Best of luck!

Alex, congrats on the new purchase! What part of MA are you from? There are a few of us here from Mass but I certainly see more slowbarus than evos up here.

FYI- I wouldnt worry about the snow packed in the intercooler. Forget about what the other guy said about it needing to "breathe" The whole point of an intercooler is to cool the pressurized air as when the turbo compresses the air its temperature increases. Thus having snow packed in the intercooler should actually help it cool better than simply by air.

Enoj the car and if you havent already I'd pick up a second set of wheels and get some dedicated snow tires.

^is that directed towards me? Im not trying to be disrespectful, simply telling it how it is. I understand that intercoolers are meant to have airflow but have you thought about why you want airflow to the intercooler? Do you really think that airflow is going to cool something more than snow/ ice?

Not to jump in here from left field, but snow packed up anywhere is no good. Whether it's snow or leaves, it's stopping any kind of airflow, which means you're not making use of the cold temp. If the snow had holes in it lol.. maybe...?

Are you two serious? I will repeat what I said previously. Why is airflow key for an intercooler? Snow will actually act as an insulator which is why you are able to put bottles of beer in the snow and it wont freeze even during freezing cold temperatures. But it will keep the beer very cold.

All Im saying (and I'm not sure why youre arguing this) is that the snow will indeed keep the intercooler cold and I will argue that it will actually cool it better than normal airflow. Do me a favor...next time your driving stick your hand out the window and note how cold it gets. Then hold a snowball and note how cold that makes your hand.
