Wondering about Tuning Interest
Once the weather gets nicer, I was wondering if anyone was interested in having someone tune our cars and setting up a tuning day. Now, i am not sure if I would like to go for a flash or have a piggyback system. I know I do not want to go forth with a complete standallone system, i dont have the time right now to do my own complete datalogging and tuning and i am still learning.
Basically what i am proposing, is to find out if anyone is interested in the future to have a tuner of choice in the area or out of the area come hook up our cars in the NW. I would like a custom road tune to support the mods I will have.
i am in eastern Wa, but would be willing to go north to the seattle are or even go visit the oregon people and set it up there.
Let me know if there is any interest.

here is my understanding- there is a portland company called www.pdxtuning.com. pdx tuning has the software needed to do this, but doesnt have an AWD dyno, but has access at a shop in portland. i know a few people that are involved with the pdw tuning group and have heard nothing but good things. the owner of Vishnu performance has even made it up a few times to help out. i myself am more prone to driving down to Vishnu in person to get a whole stage 1 upgrade, installed and custom tuned all in one day/weekend. i am sure that either route that we take will be fine. i am unfamiliar with the seattle area shops that are capable. i look at vishnu as the most knowledgable evolution guys in this country and the price difference/ hassle of getting down there (san fran area-15 hours from Portland) would be definately worth going.
just my .02, and i am sure some will disagree. i would love to explore the group rate options available, or even just finding a shop that everyone seems happy with. i am still stock, motor wise, and told myself i wouldnt do anything big for a year. that may not last though. great post.

Last year Vishnu came up to Matrix Integrated in Portland. We could probably get them to come back if we have enough people purchase there parts and find a decent AWD dyno. Unfortuantely, Matrix has a new tuning group call PDX tuning that is doing tuning there. When I asked them about having another Vishnu dyno day they seemed reluctant about doing it.
The problem w/ PDX tuning is they only tune Subaru.

That is some good info guys, that is exactly what i was looking for. Josh maybe we could caravan down to Vishnu and get our stuff done, i am totally up for a road trip.
If we could get a group rate on this kind of stuff, then it would make it more worthwhile. I know there would have to be quite a bit of people from this area that would be interested in doing A group tune. I talk to a guy at matrix awhile back and I believe he said he can do all Vishnu stage kits, i am just wondering about a good person to tune the car and tie it all together nicely. It seems from the forums if you get enough people together then Shiv or someone will come to you to do the tuning. maybe we will luck out and find a shiv, al, or any of the other good tuners on this board in our very own area.

Lancealot, I noticed you have the same exhaust setup I have been thinking about buying. How do you like it? Do you have any pictures of the Magnaflow tip? Is that the 3” or the 2 ½”? Does it sit nice and tight to the underside of the car?
yeah i have heard that matrix is really good about the install. they used to be more VW realated and i have 2 good freinds that have had major motor work done by them. the vishnu thing for me may have to wait for a few more months, but i am way down. or as someone else said we could get 5 cars together, and shiv could come up. i am sure that he would be more than willing. pdxtuning does tune evos. they have a few members with them. that is another route to go.

Josh,What are your thoughts on getting a piggyback or just flashed, where do your interest lie?
What are everyone elses interest on which way to tune their cars?
The flash is for people that want to flash it and forget it. A piggyback is for people that want to run race gas, launch control, and other features. A piggyback is useful for people that like to make engine mods all the time.
Hey guys, timing couldn't be better. I'm just purchased an Exede unit and will have some additional parts added that I will need custom tuning for. Prefereably Vishnu since it's their software I'm using. I'm down for a roadtrip or trying to get enough of us in so that maybe he can tune us up here in the NW.
Let me know what you think.

^ i agree. it would take some time for me to get everything together do get it all done at once. i personally want a piggyback system, but eventually a stand alone unit. i am just not at the point to be programming everything. jj_008 you must be right then. i guess they just flash utec's then. i am still reserching all of this, to see what i need/can afford. BTW- this is a great thread.
Well, it seems like we need maybe a month or so to get finances in order and some more mods done before they tune. I know I would like to get a couple more mods done as well and it couldnt hurt to have a little more time to get more money together.
Kyle-are you in a big hurry to get your exede up and running or would you be interested in waiting a little while for a group thing to get going, I know it would be hard to wait so i totally understand if you couldnt.
not huge turnout yet so i think we may have a little more time to get things going.
What do you guys think so far?
