exhaust manifold coating

hey i was curious if anyone has used a company called performance coatings. they are in auburn Wa, and seem to do good work. it seems they will coat a stock exhaust manifold for like $100. as ours (at least mine) are rusted and hideous i though maybe someone up north has used these guys before. thinking maybe we could get a group rate even, and i was curious about turnaround time. if you have any feedback or are interested at all let me know.

Hmm, I literally work like ½ mile away from this place. I don’t know much about them though. I can drive down there on my lunch and talk with someone about a group rate and lead times if you like. I will post my findings on this tomorrow around 1pm…

Their cerma-chrome looks mean as hell on exhaust manifold and turbo shields. And I guess its really easy to clean also......I eventually want to do my Valve cover and heat shields.

They do good work and can be trusted! Check some of there work out here:

had an exhaust done on my old Alfa, nice job, it takes three or four days. I think you will have trouble with rust, they like CLEAN new parts. But you must just be talking about surface rust.

yeah it just has external rust, i live at the beach, and that is lethal on almost any sort of coating. how much did the exhaust cost to have done? did you have all of it done? i thought about just getting the muffler done to color match the car. does anyone think they could do rims?

I should have said exhaust header. it was two pieces about four feet long, as I remember around 1 bill, for sure less than two. Might charge more for cleanup of rust and carbon. I would guess an evo header would be around $100
They do cook the coating which might not be good for alloy rims.

Depending on the period of time the part has been in use sometimes there are long term durability problems with used parts. It's very important to heat cycle the manifold before heavy use.
We've never had a problem with new parts that were coated.

It does help heat retention significantly, with my manifold and heatshield coated I could literally touch the heat shield after a 4th gear pull (not that I recomend trying that).
