PDX DEQ Test: Catless?
Hey all,
I just got a DMV registration renewal in the mail a few days ago. Have any of you gone through the DEQ test station with no cat?
As I understand it, for our cars they just plug in to the ECU to check for codes… no CEL & codes, and you pass. Because I am running the Perrin 02 simulator, I don’t have a CEL and should not be throwing any codes. Therefore, I am wondering if I should bother with putting the stock exhaust (or at least the cat) back on the car before going through, or just go for it as is.
Cheers,
Jason

The process you stated above is for a used car off the dealer lot. My understanding is that they will put the sniffer in tail and measure the car at idle and at something like 3000 rpm. They can't place you on the dyno and run the car because thiers are only 2wd. I would recommend placing the stock cat or stock full exhaust on the car for the DEQ test. You never know, they may notice you have a test pipe and send you off to a ref; that would be bad. Good luck and let us know how this turns out.
PDX Tuning is the shiat!! They tuned my car, and its eating vipers and Z06 everywhere!! My latest kill was a Ferrari F430 spider on the freeway, it was close, but I pulled him. I am certain because he came up next to me to congratulate me on having an insanely fast car.

Yeah... I suppose it won't be that big a deal to bolt up the old exhuast. I think I went to do this in the past for some reason but found out that I was missing a hanger or two or something like that. Guess I'd just have to get under there again and rig something up to mount the stock exhaust if need be.
It's just that I am 99% sure they will plug in, say it's fine and I will have wasted all that time. However, I think the fine is pretty steep if they do happen to figure out that I have no cat. So maybe the .9% still is not worth the risk.
Anyone actually know what the fine is?
Thanks,
Jason

Don't know what the exact price of the fine is but I know it is pretty darn hefty. Better be safe than sorry and just spend the 30 minutes to swap it out.
