understandable. guess it was more seeing first hand how bad off some of the public schools are around here and finally seing something positive get bashed right off makes me little defensive. ntm from what I understand these kids made some of the biodiesel they were running on on their own adding more to some of the impressive progress.

i'm not sure too much more of specifics as it was one of my buddies from school who isn't into the car stuff in my team that actually got to meet the kids who built it. i never did find out how they run the two motors.

I dont think that these kids would have been able to do it without major money and donations such as carbon fiber body parts, tube frame, etc.

They may have put it together but they certainly didnt design it; they would have had to have some serious design, engineering, and modeling skills, then the ability to have their clay prototype made into reality. This is more of an assembly of parts from vendors; hell if this is true everyone can claim that they have designed their own evos.......

There is alot of information missing from these articles. Hell if it was that easy most of us would already have one.

You apparently didn't read the articles. They didn't have much of a budget at all. Many of the parts were donated. It wasn't necessarily a bolt-together project, it appears they had to do a lot of work to tune the engine to run on biodiesel, hook it up to the electric motor, and build the chassis to hold it all together. It IS an automotive design and engineering program, afterall. After reading the second article, I have a little more faith in them.. Now, we all know they didn't do it ALL themselves, the teacher had a huge say in getting things to work and general automotive knowledge, and telling the kids what homework to research. But I bet they did a significant portion of the fabrication and legwork.

Donations, sponsorships, whatever...they still did something that HUGE, multi-billion dollar corporations have yet to accomplish. Respect.
