Housing recommendations

So I just got a job in the Kent, WA area. Working on 84th Ave S, near 198th St to be exact. I am located in Bellingham now so any trips down there are difficult. Does anyone in the area have some good recommendations for good housing? I am probably looking for an apt./townhome with a garage for my Evo. Most people that I have talked to suggest the Kent East Hill area since I get to avoid all of the freeways that way. So far the places I have looked into are...

The Village Apartments
James Street Crossing
Meridian Green Townhomes
Chandler's Bay
Walnut Park
and
Brentwood

Thanks for any suggestions/advice.

East Hill Kent is pretty ghetto in some places. Try north renton or the newcastle area. It should be about a 15minute commute to your work taking 405. Very quiet area to live and right off the freeway.

I currently rent a house in newcastle, and I've done your drive around 8-9am with minimal traffic.

That is mostly where I am looking. Thanks!

i'm a real estate agent and i own a couple of 4 plexes in renton. i also used to do professional real estate management before I got my PC tech job. the difference between the kent east hill and newcastle is dramatic. they are not comparable. maybe you should look in south renton, talbot hill is nice. or downtown renton if talbot hill is too expensive for you. i live in downtown renton and i don't worry about walking down the street at 2 am. it's becoming a bedroom neighborhood of Bellevue according to the Seattle Times. The Sunday edition has a great article about the reduction of affordable housing in the Puget Sound.

Yeah, based upon what I have read on apartmentreviews.com it sounds like Kent is not the place to live. Especially if you value your car and personal belongings.

i didn't want to imply that kent was bad. It isn't much worse than renton, if at all. Now, an area like skyway is going to be cheaper. One of my friends used to live there and he said that he heard gunshots every night.

Well, after one day of looking I had little luck. Most of the Kent apartment complexes were pretty terrible. Talbot Hill area was nice, but 1 bd/small 2 bd apartments are hard to come by it would seem.
