well, if I do go for the white 05, and the only things that are wrong with it are cosmetics, why not go for it for 18?

Because there are way too many things that can go wrong with an evo that cost massive $$$. If its stolen for one it was most definately beat on. The car will not retain its value well at all. Drivetrain could be a ticking time bomb. If the paint is crap then thats another problem in its own. Your biggest mistake will be to pull the trigger too early. In this economy you can and will find Evo's for fairly cheap. Honestly I would rather take a clean well kept one that hasn't been beat on with 40k miles. Stay away from highly modded ones, suspicious ones, and rebuilt or stolen ones.

I have been watching pricing because I was thinking of unloading my MR but its really not worth it right now. You could easily find a nice clean VIII for 18-19k. Hell I have been seeing IXs go for 22-23k. Even though pricing on Evo's hold better than normal cars you as a purchaser have the power to bargain.

alright, well, ironically, there's an 03 evo for sale in puyallup that I am gonna go check out tomorrow, it looks perfect. lowered with exhaust and a few other things but that's about it. wants 19k, good thing I didn't go through with it too soon, cause this one looks MUCH more promising, only issue is that it has 68k on everything INCLUDING the stock clutch. I didn't think it was possible for an evo clutch to last that long...

Trust me you dont want that 3rd one that you posted. That is my old car. It's a good car, but it needs some work. Valve seals need replacing, one cylinder was down to 100psi, other 3 are at 150ish. Still has FIC 750's in it and JUN cams, but is tuned for meth a Green and 31psi...though it's only running about 15psi. never got it retuned before trading it in. It also has a good Exedy stg 2 clutch, shift bushings and Greddy turbo timer. It was also painted at Maaco a few days before trade in, single stage paint.

alright, good to know, thanks. as for the 03, he said that World One Basic did a basic map last summer. He also said he was going to try to get lucas english to do the tune but didn't have time to drive it over there. I was thinking of just buying it without the exhaust, wanna run close to stock for now.

First off, what is your goal with the evo? dailey go getter, minumal mods planned? or are you building a street monster or drag car? If you building a track or drag car who cars what the body looks like. if you doing a DD you want to be pretty and want to love, get a good one. what is your TRUE budget. All ways remember, you get what you pay for. PM me. i may have something you would like.

really? he says that they had it tuned over the summer and his wife/girlfriend or whatever is mainly the driver and she used to be on evom.... looking for a DD that I can lightly mod for now but down the road turn into more of a track car.

I thought so. This is Jenny's old car then. Inneedof this would have been the white evo VIII that was running pretty rich at the first dyno day down at drift office.
