so i finally made it home... several days of playing with the car followed by nights of "hey welcome home, lets go get drunk..." my tolerance is not what it once was
after looking over the car i found a blitz EBC, injen catback, no name test pipe and down pipe, bilstein struts with a red spring (yeah, i dunno). not sure if i have a walbro yet but, im guessing so because it looks like someone brought the car back to stock before selling it.
changed the plugs, oil and swapped to a perrin intake setup. the stuff i swapped out was super nasty.
paid a visit to ER and dyno'd out at 300hp and 295tq. the baseline was 276hp 235tq. the main difference starts at about 3900-4200 where the new tune continues to climb and peaks over the baseline by 60hp 48tq.
i took it up to mt hood on wednesday to "play" and split that little 5-6in coolant hose on the back side of the head. lost almost all of the coolant and limped it down the mountain with a sobe bottle and river water. i pulled in at the harley shop in gladstone and they helped me out with a new hose and some jeep guys that were there helped me swap it out. only thing left to do is flush it and refill. gonna chalk this one up on the "great experience i never want to repeat" board.

Is there a big group of Evo's up there? I'm gonna be there around July time frame, I'm taking a road trip from Houston, TX. I could hook up your stereo but im in Iraq right now haha! Good luck tho man and glad to see your on your way to hooking up the ride.
gonna post some pics once i feel a bit more proud of how she looks.
right now my calipers are faded and nasty just like the paint job. im gonna do a touch up on that with the next beautiful day... fingers crossed for today lol.
there's a decent amount of evo's in the portland area. just gotta keep your eyes out... im still scanning everything and everyone
besides, i thought the last of the TX group left with us? heck, they kicked ours in feb.
speaker setup is gonna be polk audio MM series with an MB quart amp. nothing fancy but, it'll sound better. gonna put the rears in today.

as the day finishes up my hands are still covered in dirt that no amount of gojo can remove...
wing removed, ugly CF vinyl wrap that was on it removed (some things you can laugh at, others make you wanna kick someone in the jimmy) , sanded top of the REAL CF. should be able to finish sanding the rest tomorrow and be ready for new clear.
sounds and feels like my driver front caliper is a bit loose after driving it a few days. gonna tighten them all up tomorrow and wipe the spring and shock clean to check for labels.
ive got a slightly rough idle that im not sure about. gonna check my plugs, oil, and pop off the air filter. im curious if there is anything else i should look for?
im also noticing a metallic vibration when i lift off the pedal coming from the front of the car.
there's a hum at 70+ coming from the rear too that sounds like the tires rubbing but isn't.
any ideas? thinking the front vibration could be the caliper that's a little loose so ill check it after i tighten it. im clueless on the rear though and my friend tells me its been an issue since she picked it up for me.

right on man! i just got back from al asad a few weeks ago.
got the wheel off and tightened up the caliper. i was able to get a 1/4 turn on the bottom bolt so maybe that'll help.
springs are espilar. the front struts are stock mitsu and rear are a bilstein pair.
more to come ;-)

heading to ER tonight to pick up the pipes and see if we can figure out the misfire and vibration from the rear. i think im gonna take a break for a couple days after this stuff is fixed
LICP is on. had to take the front bumper off due to the brackets. gonna go run around a bit and bring the tools in case my noodle arms didnt quite get it tight enough. it was a pretty snug fit and is touching the tow loop which shouldnt be an issue since the stock one did too.
found the car may be running a bit rich at idle which would explain a stronger fuel smell and lumpy idle.
the rear vibration/hum is still a mystery...
pics coming soon ;-)
