Fluid change, anyone care to help

Hey guys.

I have had the evo for about a week or so, and i know the 30k flush was never done (it is at 37k) I am worried it needs it bad, and after winning the 100$ from the mitsu/niss meet as well as the LSD gear oil, I am going to order the fluids i need and figure out how to get them done (dealer quoted 700)

I have no garage, just a carport on an incline, and really no vehicle tools.
If i have to i will just buy all my fluids and take it to a shop, but I was wondering if anyone here knows how to do it, and knows if we can do it on my hill or somewhere else. I dont mind buying some tools if needed.

i have never even changed the oil in a car before so I really have no idea how to do this.

I am going to try and figure out what fluids i need to change and try and buy them, any help is appreciated

I live in lynnwood

THanks,
Derek

You can use our garage to change your fluids. It's not difficult to do. I have a nice jack and some jack stands. I don't have many tools but I have the one's you'll need for this.

We (Shangie) live in S-Everett.

Awesome I may take you up on that

Although I am wondering if i should just have it done professionally? It has been recommended that i change the ACD fluid, and I have seen so many horror stories about trying to do that and blowing the pump.

I cant make it to the dyno event .. I really need a tune so that sucks, but I work until 10 am the day of, then I have to be back at work at 10pm

This! There shouldn't be much traffic on a Saturday.

*edit - I would guess your ACD is fine. If you need to use my garage sometime that would be fine too; just drive up the ramps and she's up! I wouldn't take it to a shop even for fluids. very easy to do yourself, and you need to get some wrench time on her!

How much for it?

So you guys dont think the ACD is needed for the 30k? ... that has been my only reason for not doing it myself, i figure i can learn the other ones but i dont have the ACD bleeder.

Ill give it to you no worries I just want it out of my garage... you also dont need an acd bleeder just another body... have someone prime the acd pump by turning the key over to acc.. open the valve untill its done whining and close the valve.. its very similar to bleeding a clutch

also evoevil9 offers this

Engine oil 10W30 or 5w30 you choose, 75w90 tranny fluid for a full flush , 75w90 tranfer case fluid and 75w90 rear diff fluids all shipped for 108.98

I have the gear oil from the evo meet (thanks raffle) but i also have 100 gift cert to spend w/Russel @ olympic mitsu...
What fluids should i buy with my 100, or should i just buy the bulk package?

^you must not like good advice!

I'm telling you, get the tranny fluid from people on here, cause I guarantee a couple people have extra that they won't be able to use and you will save money. I have some that you can straight have, but it won't be enough to fill your tranny. You'll need someone else with leftover.

I think that was a typo on tcase and rear diff, or at least I hope so. They don't take 75w90. You already have the LSD gear oil that you'll need for the tcase and rear diff, so you're fine.

I have an extra gallon of coolant that I'll sell you for 1/2 price, I have oil filters that I'll sell for cheap. Basically all you'll need is the oil and the tranny fluid. 30k also calls for accessory belts and cabin filter I think.

30k calls for checking the ACD fluid level. You probably don't need to worry about it.

^The only problem is that there is a meet this weekend (ER dyno day), then the Deception Pass cruise next weekend. HRR + Labor day the following weekend, etc.. I try not to do two Evo events in a weekend in order to keep the family life at peace.

Maybe setup an install day thread and see if you can't find someone to host it for you?

I am guessing 2+ for the tranny (so 3), but I'm not positive. Ryan might have some and would know.
