mid-engine RWD 2g DSM...
Been reading up on a few forums about a new upcoming kit car from SuperLiteCars called the Apex (also called the SuperLite GTA earlier in the development). SLC has some other kits out already that are awesome so could this be another homerun.
The kit will be a re-bodied 2g DSM (retaining the cabin, doors, and some supporting structures). The engine will be moved to the rear using a bolt in (no welding) subframe. All suspension bits will be newly engineered for better geometry and weight savings. Targeted weight is 2400-2500 lbs (not stripped down but rather retaining heat/AC/ICE/ETC). Weight could be well lower for a track day only kit. Wheel base in ~103"
Given the low entry cost of a donor 2g DSM, ease of making power with the 4G63, the improved balance of a mid-engine design & longer wheelbase, and the light weight of this package, this could be a screamer with the handling to boot!
Production is targeted by the end of 2012!
