Their insurance are very tricky in their words/wording of fault/communications with us...

We had tried to resolve this honestly/fairly, but then finding a lawyer who's reasonable in their fees is not as easy as it seems.

We don't have a personal lawyer on retainer that will guide us without having us fill out a 12 page legal document/contract BEFORE they would even see/talk to us about our potential case...

Both my wife and I were EMT-ed to the ER. We were not even able to see/hear/talk to the person who hit us because the force of the strike sent us (our SUV) across 4 lanes (8 lanes highway total) of expressway to the opposite side retaining barrier.

We didn't even know who/what hit us until After the trooper himself came to the hospital to the check up on us. He was the one who eventually informed me of what happened and give me the other person's name & their insurance information. Otherwise we would have been completely clueless and possibly SOL.

As for the camera, It's a BlackVue <-- notice the "e" that I forgot about, and the model I have is the DR400G-HD. It's small and compact, records in 1080p, has GPS built in, has a video out port to view footage, records to a MicroSD card, and also has a "parking mode" so if someone bumps your car in the lot it will record their plate (if it can see it, obviously).

Here is the BEST source of info that I've found for it: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/merge...hread-1147913/
lol. You're a comedian..

Thanks for the clarification and link.

The process of going through looking for another replacement vehicle is draining...
We are split in our feelings of getting another O.sport or should we get another brand.

Vehicles we are looking at:
2013 Mitsu O.Sport (it was my original contender, but now I'm not so sure.)
2013 Ford Escape
2013 Nissan Juke
2013 Nissan Rogue
2014 Mazda CX-5

Possible Pre-Owned..:
Acura RDX
BMW X3
Infiniti EX35

Wishing:
2013 Acura RDX (in our dreams)

After owning an Outlander Sport, you obviously can't downgrade to something that doesn't look as good so that takes out the Rogue, Juke. You don't want something with less ground clearance than the amazing 8.5 inches the Outlander Sport already has, so that eliminates the Escape. The CX-5 looks pretty badass, but if you want to stay in the same price range, that's out of the question.

I wouldn't even consider those 'luxury' pre-owned. You're not going to beat a 10k/100k mile warranty.

You're right about the appearance - the O.Sport looks the best out of the group of current compact SUVs..
And, it is tough to beat the nice factory 18" alloys (that comes stock) giving it the impressive 8.5" G.C.

There's some up and coming CUVs that may give the O.sport a real challenge >

2014 Honda Urban SUV

and,

2014 Jeep Cherokee
Not sure what price range this will in though...

Very true, very hard to ignore the warranty.

My wife and I did give the "old" 2013 CX-5 a test drive when it first came out last year... it was TRULY a snail. Smashing the pedal to the metal - No power whatsoever! It was laughable and Sad because after I held the pedal to floor for a good 5 seconds and the dash only showed 38MPH...
If you EVER want to feel the sensation of moving in slow-motion, This was it.

However, we gave the new 2014 CX-5 a try yesterday... wow what a difference. Mazda bumped the engine up to 2.5L which produces 184 horsepower (~5100RPM) and 185 lb-ft of torque (~3200RPM). Fuel economy is rated at 25/32 mpg for FWD models and 24/30 for AWD models. All on regular gas.

24/30 for AWD... a very minimal increase in MPG, compared to the Outlander Sport but for a price increase of what? It will take you MANY years to offset that price difference in fuel savings, and you still don't get the 10/100k warranty if you decide to keep the vehicle for that long.

I just want to the International Auto Show this weekend and saw both vehicles.

Too bad the Honda will never make it into production.

What about getting a Subaru Forester XT, then unleash some more power with a ecu flash. I saw that in mighty car mods in youtube. Plus having a car turbo from the factory you can always add more boost by cracking up the psi and or getting a larger turbo.

We had considered it and they were definitely on the list of AWD SUVs to strongly consider... but then we saw the price.

You'll looking at the base 2014 XTs $30,284 (and there's VERY few of them in dealer lots)... to get xenon headlights you need their Touring package (plus dealer add-ons, etc) we'll looking at $34,561-$35,806-ish range BEFORE TT&L. So, they priced themselves way too high for what we need (or actually - already have in the O.sports minus the horsepower and a tad more cargo-room, that is.)

Before i got my '13 Outie SE, i already went to check on Mazda CX 5, Subaru Crosstrek, Honda CRV and the '13 Toyota Rav 4. If I go with the $24K price range, I will only get the standard model plus will get less warranty. I also check the 2012 KIA Sportage used one loaded with 30,000 miles and the price is still $24K. The only difference is that it has leather seats, nothing else. I said wtf???

So I went to check on the Outie and sure it is, fell in love with the aggressive look, loaded for only $23K (out the door$26K with LoJack) and has a good warranty. Dont care about the power because I will be driving this car with my wife..

Yeah, you seem to have hit all the other compact SUVs out there that I didn't mention previously.

To get HID/xenon headlights on a 2014 CX-5 you are basically forced to get the Touring WITH Tech package AND Moonroof+BoseStereo > which jacks the FWD model up to $28,725. If you want AWD, we're looking at $30K+... outrageous!

Nothing out on the market (currently) seem to be able to match the O.sport for standard features and Optional packages, plus price.

My wife is coming back around to Mitsu. We'll see...

Yup, i saw that one too for the CX5, that's the first one i was considering to buy but when i go to the Mazda dealer, and learned about the price, i said hell no.

And you are correct, no one will match the O sport for optional package price.

The only MUST HAVE option I REALLY WANT in this vehicle is Leather Seats. The Leather seat option is nearly $1,000 from Mitsubishi in the SE model, and you can get your vehicle upholstered for a lot less than that, which is why I want the ES model and just build it up to my exact needs. I've always put in my own head units, rear view cameras, etc, because I'm ocd about having headrest monitors for my passengers.

Cowhide aye... nothing better than the smell of raw leather.

I can understand the desire to install your own hardware. Been there, done that.

I went to the dealer last week and asked about the Outie sport they have on display with leather seats. Its sold and told me that they knew a company who can put in leather seat for $1350. too much money......

Don't ever take recommendations from dealers. Go to your local upholstery shop, or an audio shop and ask them for a good auto upholster.

Time to whip out the old Singer sewing machine and shears.. Let's cut some rawhide.

Silly me, I don't know how it got to talking about leather... Let's keep to original topic.

I'll post more pics of the damage soon.
This thread will be a good place to analyze the (rear) structural design of O.sports
