Hood struts (Custom Hinges w/ Gas Struts) : Outlander Sport (ASX / RVR)
What we all have.. Hood stick/poker that hold it up >
Here's something a bit more stylish >
310 Tuner Billet Hood Hinges Polished Aluminum
(This unit is meant for an EVO)
$256.49
LINK
Another Custom hinges (but these would take some major modding to make it fit in our O.Sports) >
Tri-Five Billet Hood Hinges From EMS, LINK

Yeah... I'm willing to spend about $60-$75 on this project. It's got the "nifty" factor, but all in all using the little stick thing isn't a $300 inconvenience.
Not knocking your thread, just IMO that's an insane price.

We shouldn't have to resort to fancy expensive hood lifts. I KNOW there is a hood strut out there for around $50 that WILL WORK on our Outlander Sports. Just need to find out which freaking one it is!

get a kit for a evo cheap off ebay and see if it works....I had mynes hood kit on my evo and it worked great, I will probably try the same one or style. They have hooked them up on ASX's/RVR's so it should work.

Haven't given up on these...
Got my hands on some more gas struts (Way less power this time, ~ 65lb. each)
This will be my (official) attempt número dos!
gas lift and some corner bar stock
preliminary drill & cut locations/specs
Now I just need to find a machine shop that can precision cut these for me...

Okay..
Here's a quick layout reference of the hood struts.
And, I know why these struts are inverted** (the gas cartridge is on top instead of being on the bottom.) It allows you to keep the OEM hood-stick as a secondary to hold up the hood. > I personally like to have backup, just in case a gas strut fails or some other unforeseen occurance.
I know I've said that I hate to drill into the vehicle's frame/body-structure, but I think I'm going to have to do some precision cuts to make this thing work. Currently the lower ball sockets doesn't seem to line up with any of the pre-drilled holes that's corresponding match (from passenger to driver). VERY ODD.
** otherwise it would hit/interfere with the strut.
