I like to measure actual ground clearance by axle/lowest point. I don't know why they're making that vehicle, but it's a crap design for our current conflict. IEDs will flip it right over.

Now this is ground clearance

It's actually not too bad to drive. Luxurious compared to the hmmwv

I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to vehicle armor and IED protection/prevention, I'm a layman on the topics.

However, from what I can understand of the F.E.D. is that this vehicle is just what they claim it to be a demonstrator platform.

They are trying out and testing new Efficiency methodologies for a "Faster" AND "MORE Fuel Efficient" small vehicle transport.

And, in all honesty I had no clue how poor the M1114 is when it came to acceleration (0-60 MPH in 35secs!) and Lame when it came to burning fuel... at 4-5 MPGs!?

So, in comparison to this FED:
4.5L inline 4 Cylinder : Turbo AND Supercharged, 200HP
0-60 in 29sec.
7-13MPG

Bear in mind this is all hearsay, but one of my best friends went to Afghanistan for a tour, Army - Infantry, and while we were talking about just some general stuff he had mentioned that his unit actually didn't use the MRAP because it wasn't powerful enough to get around in the mountains, where his unit spent most of its time. Just thought I'd mention it after seeing that horrible 0-60 time.
