I saw some other people doing this. Ive installed vinyl working in a sign shop, but nothing like wrapping carbon fiber vinyl. this stuff is thick. I currently have the plastic chrome trim ring in a bleach solution to remove the chrome. Thinking of painting it Red.

Thanks man. I have used Krylon Fusion before for outdoor applications and have had problems. I guess wear and tear is the real issue. Saw some Youtube vids on removing chrome from plastic and decided to give it a try. so far its working slowly. no damage to the plastic.

CURT hitch receiver

Got my hitch receiver and of course it is damaged in 2 places. Big scrape of paint missing right near the receiver. had to be packaged that way from factory. Then it looks like the mounting area kicked through the box and scraped paint off there too. Trying to see if the company i ordered it from will discount it or if i need to return it. sucks.

That sucks. An odd place for shipping damage though. If you get a discount, get it blasted and powder coated!

@wowagorilla

That is a odd place to have paint damage.. must've been QC oversight from the factory.
And, man that really sucks to have the package busted up like that during storage/delivery. What a pain.

Hopefully, the seller will help make it right.

And, a side note -
Make sure you used the included brace-brackets during your installation of the receiver.

yikes! that's going to cost as much as the hitch itself.
Instead just use a dremel and a sanding wheel & scuff and buff the "defectives" and spray can it.

You're not going to see those particular areas all that much after install anyways.

im trying to get a discount. It looks like factory damage. Its just a hitch so not too concerned. Just hate paying full price. I will probably use it and just sand it and spot paint it or cover with vinyl or sticker. Still sucks.
