Saab used to make long lasting turbocharged engines (if I am not mistaken they put the first turbochargers to production cars first).

AWCAWD,
Sir, my Spidey-senses are telling me you work for an Automotive Portal...
You are finding&pulling these threads up way too fast.

Am I right.

Sir,
Thank you for the compliment but your senses and perceptions again let you down. Just to satisfy your curiosity I work in public sector, more specifically in higher education (science). That is why I defend facts over perception and that is why I call for the danger of internet publishing (read again my comments carefully)
Why do I come up with these sources so quickly? When I was looking for the best car for my needs little over two years ago I really did my homework.
After safety, reliability is my second criterion when it comes to cars (of coarse within the price range I was willing/able to pay).
As a researcher I find (and perhaps know a little bit) information quickly and also archive them.
I am surprised that others haven't gathered such information before making the purchase decision.
I came to this forum with good faith. I learned a lot and thought I may contribute in return. I will not engage though in any personal dispute.
Now you got your answer.

I think we're all here to get informed & to share our experiences.
And, THAT only happens when we can get Everything off our minds and out "on the table".

Never took our arguments/discussions personally in any way.

Now you got your answer.

Indeed.
I can relate to you.
Taught computer science (animation/computer graphics) as an adjunct instructor.

However, we all know and understand that data gathered through Research must also be tested/verified in real life, under real world situations. And, the results are quite different "out there."

> Numbers/data proven in the lab, may not hold up so well once put under multiple loads.

Just like in computers - WindowsOS claims it "works with Recommended specs" and have been thoroughly tested "by professional lab techs"... etc etc. Once it's put to real world usage, it sometimes comes WAY Short of the mark.

Actually we have! and if you're referring to the power thing in our O.sports and why we didn't "realize" before hand - of the lack there of.

Simple.
Performance/Horsepower wasn't a top criteria for us.
Safety was.
>As in the vehicles capability in storms, ie: snow, heavy rain etc.
So 4x4 was top on our list, so was having xenon headlights, and lastly enough cargo area to hold a full-size stroller that we knew was on the way.

> It's quite impossible (at the time) to envision what 148HP is when you're reading it on the window sticker. And, how that was not enough to move this small CUV.

Did we not observe that it lacked some pick-n-go? Yes, we did and we stated the fact.

However, the salesman gave us the "it's brand new and needs time break-in and loosen up." since neither my wife nor I ever owned an SUV/CUV before that time, it was hard to contest that point.

The only reason I got into the "wish for more power " thread was to reiterate that we cannot have everything. If you set the proper order of the values you are looking for in a car you will not have the buyer's regret. Because whatever is in the third or even the second place, it cannot swing your decision. You elaborated, experienced, and demonstrated in detail that safety is really a true value of this car (OS/RVR/ASX). For the same reason I listed safety and reliability related information concerning not only the OS but the competition. Nissan Juke is by far not the safest car in the segment, nor the most reliable. Sure it is peppier, but for what price? Sure, Infinity Q50 is not in our price range but is an interesting example to look at. I am positive that owners after paying $50K and sitting on 325HP, yet experiencing countless problems (many of them serious safety issues) may envy you that your car is named the most reliable (by Consumer Report) of the segment. Owning any other car is not rosier either. You just have to stick with your values and do not shuffle them around.
Just to cheer you up here are two other links.
Mitsubishi Lancer named the most reliable car in the UK in the past 15 years:

Oh, JD Power (North America) does not seem to agree with this (predicted reliability 2 or 3 out of 5):

Mitsubishi makes cars for global market. This is one of the reasons why everyone should carefully decide what information to rely on and accept.

Well..
Actually, for those who remain silent and never voice their opinions about something they feel that can be improved. Then true, they can not have everything.

Now, do I expect to have everything all at once - at the point of purchase. No.

However, I do expected far better improvement & quicker turn-around from a major (global) automotive manufacturer than what Mitsu has provided.
[If it was a company like Tata Motors or Chery International, then my expectations would be much lower.]

************************

No, I don't feel "buyer's regret/remorse".
What I do feel is that Mitsubishi can and should do Better.
Especially when they have all the technical know-how and products under their belt already.

I'm sure you can relate to this, as an educator -
When you see/know a student who have great academic potential but they (for some reason) choose to do the bare minimum, just to skate by.
Basically that student is "panem et circenses"-ing all his teachers for a passing grade.

Wouldn't you say something to him?
Even though that student is doing great in other areas, such being the MVP on the football team of the highschool or college?

That's how I feel about Mitsu's introduction of the 2.4L (4B12) motor in the latest O.sport.
Come on now... After making customers suffer & waiting nearly 5 years** to get a stronger engine, this is the best they can do?

That's nice.
But, we're not British, nor do we drive Lancer sedans...

thanks for trying.

** Well, actually only 2 years for us, since we bought two O.Sports in 2013.
