[Off Topic] Mazda CX-3

Seems like Mazda is gunning for our O.Sport-size bracket now.

Concept Racing version:

Production version:

Specs -
power is provided by a 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G engine
146 bhp (108 kW)
146 lb-ft (197 Nm) of torque

It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.
17" wheels.

(Not sure of the ground clearance yet.)

I sat in one at a dealership yesterday.

From the outside it looks sharp, but it's low compared to our O.Sport / RVR. It also felt cramped inside for some reason. Even the vents for the air conditioning / heat were tiny.

It also DOESN'T have a center arm rest! (I have heard they adding this as an option later on / or in the top of the line models)

Not having an center arm rest felt really annoying to me personally as I use that often.

Well.. it is Based off of the Mazda2.
Ha ha.
And, they claim it's a SUV.

No manual option.. That's too bad, considering it has a traditional 6-speed transmission.

Canadian models have 16" steel (GX) or alloy wheels (GS) or 18" alloys (GT)

I agree with "rotterdam". It is too small, especially behind the driver seat. Ground clearance is 160 mm (6.3") according to this Australian site:

i think that's what we didn't like about the Juke - no armrest. and ugly.

i won't consider a Mazda, because i don't like cars that look like they are smiling at me. i prefer the OS grimace/war face

The tow hooks coming out the front hardly inspire confidence while looking awful at the same time.

At least they "improved" it somewhat, as compared to what it use to be...

No matter what I say about their appearance - their silly grills and the new CX-3s looks, I'll give Mazda props for solid engineering.
Having been around and owned Mazdas before, they are well built vehicles - Miatas, MazdaSpeed3s, and 3rd Gen RX-7s.

Kind of wished they would have based this CX-3 off the Miata platform instead though.
Or, better yet use the Mazdaspeed3's in this CUV...

2.3L intercooled turbo
263HP
280 lb-ft

Saw a red one in the wild today. Decent looking. But a horrid colour. Also, I don't like how they fill the AWD with all those gadgets. Occam's Razor and all that.

I don't know what your barber has to do with all that, but the Japanese are known for their gadget fetishes. Even if they were to build an human android, it'd be loaded with... uhm, hold on a second.. They have built a humanoid! ha ha ha

What I think happened was the designers from Mazda went out with Nissan's Juke designers one night and had too much sake and started to compared notes.

BTW, I'm just kidding about Occam's razor

have you been in a newer German car lately? way more gadgets and gizmos, but at least the Japanese electronics tend to keep WORKING for quite a few years.
