The windows are easy to break by a male adult I agree. How about a child? Anyway, I admit we may have different priorities and I respect your point. The call is ultimately yours, what to allow in your car and what not.
As far as how to test whether one particular car is equipped with the "unlocking the doors upon impact feature" I would first search. Couple of positive examples explicitly stated here:
YES:
Kia, Hyundai

BMW:

Land Rover:

One can go on to any make or model, it is a question of time to get the info you need.

Mits Canada just called me and expressed concern that the dealer was unable to do this. She indicated she will check with Mits tech staff to see why it can't be done via MUT III. She agreed that it would be a great selling feature - securty/kids etc. Will call me back. Here's hoping...

Answer from Mitsu Canada:

"As per our earlier conversation about the auto-locking for your vehicle 2011 RVR. I have spoken with our Technician's and he has advised me that all Mitsubishi vehicles do not come with a BCM and that is the reason the dealership was unable to find the information on the system. The only feature that is available is the one that you already had done on the vehicle.

We trust this information has been of assistance.

Thank you again for contacting Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, Inc. "

So I sent them some ETACs screen dumps.

The final word from Mitsu Canada:

"I have checked with our Technician again, the feature that was done on your vehicle he the only feature available and that the dealership can preform."

I told them they are missing a great selling feature they already have. I would suspect US OS owners will get the same answer. But can someone check?
