Possible wheel bearing issue 2014 OS
Hey guys, 2014 FWD OS owner here. What started as a “tick” has slowly transformed into a low “growl” coming from the rear passenger tire while driving at any speed. Tires are relatively new (~8000 miles) and are properly inflated. Alignment seems to be straight. Seems to be a classic sign of a bad wheel bearing. The car has about 61K on the odometer, so my warranty is still good. Does the Mitsubishi warranty cover wheel bearings? If not, has anyone replaced one on an OS before? How painful is the job?

Ive done wheel bearings on my 2006 Xterra and it was a breeze. If your OS is AWD that may change things but not too sure. Usually relatively easy. The dealer should cover it under warranty but I don't know if they consider wheel bearings a "wear item" like maintenance parts.
EDIT: Mis-read the "FWD" part

Dirty,
I'd recommend that you go in to the dealership and have them look into it, especially that you're still under warranty. Last thing you want to do is to DIY disassembling and start replacing parts when you have full coverage still. (10year/100,000miles on engine/trans/suspension)
But for your reference (if you ever need to DIY)-
Since you have a FWD, your rear wheel bearing should be a breeze to replace.
Just remember to rent a wheel Bearing Race Installer kit from Pep Boys or Autozone. The kit looks something like this >
[choose the disc that best fits/centers your new bearing]
It helps you properly center the bearing as you put it back into the hub, you Don't want to misalign the brand new bearing or worse accidentally strike the race (that center ring portion of the bearing and "popout" the bearing *****) ...
(which would prematurely wear out the bearing, real quick. Or totally ruin it.)

Thanks for the good responses fellas. Just got off the phone with the dealer, and as you said, wheel bearings are covered under warranty. Got some recalls to take care of as well, so we’re gonna get it all knocked out at once next week. Thanks again!
